Job description

The company is currently seeking an experienced IT Project Manager.


IT Project Manager - Software 

The Project Engineer – Software is responsible for managing the software portion for airport baggage handling projects. In this position, you will partner with the Contracts Project Manager, engineering staff and our customer to ensure the project deliverables are achieved successfully and within defined project budgets. Additionally, in this role you will at times delegate or personally create System or Software Functional Specifications, System Architecture, Descriptions of Operations, System Configuration, System Testing, Installation Support, System Support.  

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Maintain high level of contact with clients, Software engineers and Daifuku Contract Project Management.
  • Translate high level contact meeting results into prioritized action items for the team.
  • Must develop knowledge of contract and client specifications intimately.
  • Create gap analyses between client specifications and the current Webb product.
  • Generate the appropriate project specifications and ensures they are approved quickly by the client.
  • Collaborates with other Project Engineers on project resourcing, reporting and other administrative activities. 
  • Must be able to create and successfully execute project plans.
  • Position responsibility will include execution of 2 – 4 concurrent projects, of which project management is the primary responsibility, however, the Senior Project Engineer is also expected to fill in as a technical resource when those administrative duties are satisfied, or as needs dictates.

Basic Skills & Abilities

  • Project work is substantially located throughout the country; the incumbent for this role will need to travel mostly for commissioning of systems and on-site engineering tasks that cannot be accomplished from our office. On occasion off-shift work may also be necessary to support commissioning efforts.  
  • Critical Thinking — using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of you, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Verbal and Written Expression and Recognition — the ability to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.
  • Problem Sensitivity — the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Conscientiousness – Thorough and diligent in one’s duties. Recognizes tasks that need to be completed and facilitates the completion of those tasks independently.

   Education & Experience 

  • BS-CS/CE/EE or IT professional is required. 
  • Experience managing a project and related people resources.
  • Scheduling and estimating experience.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office, Visio and MS Project.
  • PMP is a plus.
  • Experience within the material handling industry, preferred.

Baggage handling experience, preferred. Qualified individuals must have a demonstrated ability to lead technical projects in a dynamic environment of competing priorities.

At least (8) eight years of a combination of the following:

  • 3+ years of IT or Software project management.
  • C/C++/C# software development.
  • .NET development
  • Windows and SQL Server administration.
  • 4+ years of team leadership.

Demonstrated Physical Abilities

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.  While on job sites, must be able to walk airports and plants and remain standing for most of the shift.
