We are seeking a Senior Software Configuration / Release Engineer to join our team. This role will involve designing, automating, and maintaining cloud configuration, release, and infrastructure management processes across enterprise AWS environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in AWS cloud services, Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps automation, backup and patch management, and certificate governance, along with a passion for building secure, highly available, and compliant cloud platforms.


Job Title:Senior Software Configuration / Release Engineer
Location:Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – On-site 2 days per week; On-site interviews only)
Duration: 6 Months(Contract)
Job Description:

The Senior Software Configuration / Release Engineer is responsible for automating and maintaining cloud configuration and infrastructure processes across GTA’s AWS environments. This role ensures stable, secure, compliant, and well-governed cloud platforms through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), release automation, patching, backup strategies, and certificate management. The engineer will work closely with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to support reliable statewide services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain AWS configuration management processes, policies, and standards.
  • Design, build, and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM).
  • Manage and optimize multiple environments (Development, Test, Stage, Production) ensuring consistency, security, and compliance.
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to support releases, deployments, rollbacks, configuration changes, and environment readiness.
  • Design and maintain automated AWS backup solutions to ensure data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with state retention policies.
  • Implement automated patching workflows to maintain required security and compliance standards.
  • Perform periodic audits of environment configurations, patch levels, backup integrity, and certificate compliance; recommend and implement improvements.

  • AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, ACM)
  • Cloud backup solutions and automated patching
  • SSL/TLS certificate management and security best practices
  • Qualified candidates must be Permanent Residents.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • AWS and/or Terraform certifications.
  • Experience working within state or local government environments.
  • Vendor oversight or management experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile or project management tools.
  • Experience with Organizational Change Management (OCM).
