Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

STARS Charter School is a K–8 public charter school serving students in Moore County, North Carolina. We are seeking a dependable and student-focused Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction, supervision, and daily operations in a structured, relationship-centered school environment.

Teacher Assistants at STARS play an important role in helping classrooms run smoothly and ensuring students are supported academically, behaviorally, and socially. We value professionalism, consistency, and a willingness to work collaboratively with teachers and staff to meet student needs.

Assignment and grade-level placement will be determined based on school needs and experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support classroom teachers with instructional activities and small-group or individual student support
  • Assist with classroom organization, materials preparation, and daily routines
  • Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times as assigned
  • Support behavior expectations and school-wide procedures
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support student learning
  • Communicate appropriately and professionally with staff and families as directed
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and school information
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration

Required Qualifications:

·        High school diploma or equivalent

·        Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting

·        Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·        Ability to follow directions and work as part of a tea

·        Ability to drive a school bus


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Prior experience as a Teacher Assistant or instructional support staff
  • Experience working in a school or charter school environment

  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Bus License
  • Willingness to drive a bus route

  • Physical ability to assist with classroom supervision, transitions, and student support
