Job Description:

THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO COLLEGE OF LAW invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Legal Writing position. The position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position with potential for security of position consistent with ABA Standard 405(c). The expected start date is August 2026.
The core responsibilities of this position include teaching a full course load (Lawyering Skills I and Lawyering Skills II), and service to students, the College of Law, the University, and the broader legal community.
The University of Toledo is a comprehensive metropolitan public university with a $750+ million annual budget and graduate programs in Law, Medicine, Engineering, and Pharmacy, among others. The Toledo metropolitan area, with a population of over 650,000, is located on the Western shore of Lake Erie and boasts a world-class art museum, lively cultural scene, popular Triple-A baseball team, and a very affordable cost of living. Filling this position is subject to funding availability and approval of the Provost.
The University of Toledo College of Law welcomes applicants with diverse intellectual and academic viewpoints. Minimum Qualifications:

Required qualifications include: a juris doctor or equivalent with an outstanding academic record, potential to be an excellent educator and demonstrated experience in legal writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least two years of experience practicing or delivering writing or other instruction in an academic institution or law firm is preferred.
