What you will do:
This position is accountable for providing routine analytical and technical support to the Wacker Calvert City Plant. Primarily performs routine analytical tests, instrument preventative maintenance, calibration, and standardization per written analytical procedures and other work instructions. Assist in problem-solving for safety, health, environmental, and product quality improvements under-documented guidelines and supervision. It is the responsibility of each employee to know, understand, and diligently practice our EH&S and Security policies and practices.
  • Conducts routine analytical and physical tests of raw material, in-process, final materials, and environmental samples per established sample schedules and written procedures.
  • Performs non-routine analytical and physical tests in support of technical, engineering, and plant trials
  • Utilizes SAP and other electronic data systems to enter and communicate test results; generates Certificate of Analysis and exception reports on a timely basis to meet internal customer requirements.
  • Conducts standardization and calibration tasks for equipment; preventative maintenance per established schedules, plus troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains the laboratory shift employee Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality work processes per the Integrated Management System requirements. Utilize electronic systems to complete the required employee training requirements.
  • Balances analytical workload per the internal customer requirements and needs in order to maintain the low-cost laboratory operating scenario.

What we need from you:
  • Bachelor of Science with a concentration in chemistry or related science field; Industrial laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • One year of industrial laboratory experience or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend and accurately execute detailed procedures and instructions describing wet chemical methods and complex laboratory instrumentation such as gas chromatographs, calorimeters, spectrophotometers, and other analyzers. KSA #2
  • Communication skills, both oral and written, are required to effectively interface with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Teamwork, flexibility and the ability to adapt to change positively are necessary to be effective.
  • Basic mathematical skills are required for computing data for finished test results that are required by the internal customers and regulatory compliance.
  • A high degree of hand and eye coordination is required to perform laboratory tasks effectively, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Many of the laboratory tests are micro in nature.
  • Typing skills are required for computer data entry and use of various software packages.
  • Travel (less than 5%)
