Job Overview

Taiga is a rapidly scaling off-road electric vehicle technology and manufacturing company seeking an Automation Mechanical Design Engineer to research, design and implement advanced automated manufacturing technologies and equipment into our manufacturing facilities.


As a member of the Industrial Automation group, you will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team to design and implement automated assembly equipment to manufacture Taigas innovative powersports vehicles. Furthermore, you will interface with design and quality engineering to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and design production equipment that meets stringent time and quality demands.


The ideal candidate must have a strong motivation to learn new technologies and must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as a strong eye for detail. If you meet the criteria below, wed love to hear from you!

Job Responsibilities

  • Design & create 3D models of new machines and technically complex automation equipment
  • Select and integrate automation components such as sensors, drives, safety components, etc.
  • Prepare detail drawings for manufacturing and maintain list of materials (BOM)
  • Acts as liaison with manufacturers and suppliers of equipment and components to ensure all parts are manufactured to design
  • Assist in implementation, assembly, and commissioning of new machines and equipment
  • Analyze existing systems and bring improvements to designs
  • Troubleshoot automated machines and prepare / perform maintenance procedures
  • Prepare diligent documentation and collaborate with other team members both within automation and cross-functionally within Taiga

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience in design of automated equipment
  • Experience designing parts and assemblies using different manufacturing methods (machining, 3D printing, sheet metal, welded structures, etc.)
  • CAD proficiency (Siemens NX preferred)
  • Experience in selection and integration of automation components, such as sensors, pneumatic components, and electrical drives
  • Hands on technical background in a manufacturing environment, following good design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) practices
  • Meticulous, attention to detail and innovative mindset
  • Good aptitude for new technologies and mechatronic systems
  • Great communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team

Nice To Have:

  • Experience in Automotive or Powersports Industry, especially with electric vehicles
  • Knowledge in PLC (Beckhoff preferred) or industrial robot programming (Kuka preferred)
  • Experience in generation of electrical and pneumatic diagrams in AutoCAD

Responsabilits

Concevoir et crer des modles 3D de nouvelles machines et dquipements dautomatisation techniquement complexes
Slectionner et intgrer des composants dautomatisation tels que capteurs, variateurs, composants de scurit, etc.
Prparer les dessins dtaills pour la fabrication et maintenir les nomenclatures (BOM)
Agir titre de liaison avec les fabricants et fournisseurs dquipements et de composants afin de sassurer que toutes les pices sont fabriques selon les spcifications
Participer limplantation, lassemblage et la mise en service de nouvelles machines et quipements
Analyser les systmes existants et apporter des amliorations aux conceptions
Diagnostiquer les problmes des machines automatises et prparer / effectuer les procdures de maintenance
Produire une documentation rigoureuse et collaborer avec les membres de lquipe, tant au sein de lautomatisation quavec les autres fonctions chez Taiga


Exigences

Baccalaurat en mcatronique, en gnie mcanique ou quivalent
3 5 ans dexprience en conception dquipements automatiss
Exprience en conception de pices et dassemblages utilisant diffrentes mthodes de fabrication (usinage, impression 3D, tlerie, structures soudes, etc.)
Matrise des outils CAO (Siemens NX privilgi)
Exprience dans la slection et lintgration de composants dautomatisation tels que capteurs, composants pneumatiques et variateurs lectriques
Exprience technique pratique en environnement manufacturier, avec une bonne matrise des principes de conception pour la fabrication (DFM) et la conception pour lassemblage (DFA)
Rigueur, souci du dtail et esprit innovant
