Job description

Position Summary:

The Controller serves as a strategic financial leader responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and operational finance functions. This role partners closely with executive leadership to support business growth, improve financial performance, strengthen internal controls, and drive operational efficiency across the organization. In addition to managing day-to-day accounting operations, the Controller plays a key role in financial strategy, process improvement, forecasting, and long-term organizational planning within a fast-paced remote environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Oversee and manage all accounting and financial operations across the organization

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting

  • Prepare, review, and present financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses to executive leadership

  • Develop and maintain internal financial controls, policies, and operational procedures

  • Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy, organizational planning, and business decision-making

  • Monitor company financial performance, cash flow, profitability, and operational efficiency

  • Oversee payroll accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions

  • Lead audit preparation, tax support activities, and regulatory compliance processes

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and scalable financial operations

  • Support organizational growth initiatives, workforce planning, and operational budgeting

  • Supervise and mentor accounting and finance team members

  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of financial and employee-related information

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities:

Follows established policies and procedures by monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes related to area(s) of responsibility and reporting violations or infractions to appropriate individual(s).

Identifies areas for improvement and offers suggestions to improve the site's efficiency, profitability, and productivity.

Keeps abreast of current changes in technology, logistics tools, processes, and standards within the industry and area(s) of responsibility by attending internal and external training programs and by accessing other sources of information and applies knowledge and practices to area(s) of responsibility.

Work Hours (may vary by location):

This position is scheduled as full time in a regular work week. Additional support within non-regular hours may be required and should be discussed with the supervisor. No additional compensation for overtime is offered for this position.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

  • CPA designation preferred

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience

  • Previous leadership, management, or director-level financial oversight experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls

  • Experience supporting multi-department or project-based operations preferred

  • Strong analytical, leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment

Language Ability:

Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to comprehend and complete documents, and answer questions in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as needed.

Math Ability:

Demonstrated advanced Mathematic and analytical skills.

Reasoning Ability:

Demonstrated ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools

  • Experience with ERP, payroll, and accounting systems required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace

  • Ability to build and analyze financial models, forecasts, and executive reports

  • Experience with financial dashboards, reporting automation, and process improvement tools preferred

  • Strong systems management and data analysis capabilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise and manage a team including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project timelines.
