Job description

Starting Pay: $19.00+ per hour DOE

Location: Rapid City YMCA

Shift: Typically 40 hours per week

Are you passionate about building programs, developing people, and creating opportunities that bring a community together? Join us at the YMCA of the Black Hills in Rapid City as our next Program Director!

As a key member of our leadership team, you'll help shape the experiences that make the Rapid City YMCA a place where kids grow, families connect, and individuals discover their potential. From youth sports leagues and enrichment programs to tournaments, special events, and facility rentals, you'll play a central role in creating programs that serve and strengthen our community.

In this role, you'll recruit, train, and support an incredible team of coaches and volunteers who bring our programs to life. You'll oversee the planning and execution of youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment activities, tournaments, and community events, ensuring every participant has a safe, positive, and memorable experience. Whether you're organizing a tournament, coordinating a birthday party, managing facility rentals, or launching a new program based on community needs, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.

Building relationships is at the heart of this position. You'll work closely with local schools, sports organizations, community partners, and YMCA members to create opportunities for engagement and growth. Your ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and build connections will help strengthen the Y's presence throughout our community.

To succeed in this role, you'll need strong organizational and leadership skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, can manage multiple projects at once, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are exactly alike. We're looking for someone with at least two years experience in recreation, youth programming, sports management, education, nonprofit leadership, event coordination, or a related field. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who believes in our mission and is excited about serving others.

At the YMCA of the Black Hills, we're more than just a workplace. We're a community. You'll join a passionate team dedicated to strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. You'll have opportunities to grow professionally, develop your leadership skills, and see the direct impact of your work on the lives of children, families, and individuals throughout the community.

If you're ready to lead with purpose, create meaningful experiences, and help build a stronger community, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and join us in making a lasting difference at the YMCA of the Black Hills.
