Job Summary
Develops collaborative relationships with area colleges of nursing and other health science programs. Coordinates and ensures the effective management of health science and colleges of nursing students' clinical experiences. Recruits and retains qualified and effective RN instructors and Clinical Instructors. Facilitates the design of meaningful clinical experiences appropriate to the educational level of the student, including appropriate placements with qualified instructors and preceptors working with LMC leaders. Actively participates in the ongoing growth and development of partnered College of Nursing programs and other local nursing colleges through participation in Advisory Board and other meeting forums. Coordinates community patient educational programs ensuring that qualified instructors and appropriate educational content is continuously evaluated and revised as changes in clinical content, patient or provider feedback indicates.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 Years of Experience in Nursing (At Least 2 Years in a Leadership Position/Capacity)
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Currently Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing;
Current certification in Healthcare Provider CPR.
Required Training: None.
Essential Functions
  • Ensures that classes and clinical experiences offered are of high quality content delivered by qualified and proficient Clinical instructors. Ensures adherence of all instructors and students to LMC and partnered of Nursing Programs' patient care philosophy, standards of care and practice, policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborates with partnered Colleges' faculty to design clinical experiences with objectives that are aligned with the lecture and are appropriate to the preparation of the student.
  • In collaboration with colleges of nursing leaders and LMC instructors, ensures that clinical students understand and demonstrate compliance with LMC service excellence, policies and procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintains job descriptions appropriate for the nursing and health science student, RN and Clinical instructor.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of program content of all classes and clinical experiences offered.
  • Assesses the performance of Clinical instructors and collaboratively develops action plans and monitors progress as indicated.
  • Ensures development of community class content based on current literature and best practices.
  • Sets and manages goals, objectives and educational activities that are congruent with the partnered College Nursing Programs and LMC's mission, vision and values.
  • Maintains and respects program participant privacy.
  • Interacts with Clinical instructors and the partnered Colleges of Nursing faculty in a collegial and respectful manner and ensure the continued growth and development of LMC's partnerships with area health science schools and colleges of nursing.
  • Respects patients' "Bill of Rights" by ensuring programs and clinical experiences as well as student preparation is designed to meet the expectations described in the Patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Attends minimum of 20 hours of appropriate educational programs for own professional development.
  • Provides performance feedback for each Clinical instructor on an ongoing basis and in conjunction with annual performance appraisal.
  • Serves as role model for students and instructors.
  • Serves as resource for nursing students, instructors, and other health care personnel in the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to their practice.
  • Plans for and contributes to the growth and development of nursing students, instructors and professional colleagues.
  • The Community Partnership Coordinator serves as a liaison between program participants, Community Education Liaison, Clinical Instructors, RN instructors, leaders of colleges of nursing and other health sciences programs and LMC.
  • Coordinate nurse residency program a minimum of three times yearly as needed to coincide with college of nursing graduation dates. This will include recruitment (in tandem with HR), interviews, onboarding, scheduling, and preceptor coordination. Provide feedback during initial portion of nurse residency program with action plans as needed, as well as follow up with resident cohorts through first year.
  • Identify measurable outcomes for each program (nurse residents & clinical nursing students) and facilitate evaluation of the data and revision of the program as indicated.
  • Demonstrates flexibility when meeting the needs of program participants, clinical student preceptors, clinical students, Clinical Instructor, and RN Instructor assignments by adding additional classes or preceptors, changing class or clinical experience dates or times to meet the needs of the targeted customer group.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains instructor and clinical assignments, ensuring qualified instructors for each clinical student experience or patient education class.
  • Onboards nursing instructors and nursing students to be sure that appropriate computer access, badge access, and EPIC access is provided in order to efficiently complete assignments. Works with Human Resources to maintain student webpage with the most current orientation materials available as needed by the individual programs (nursing and health science programs).
  • Ensures instructor coverage for all classes and clinical experiences. Develop and implements plans to ensure instructor coverage in the event of health or other emergency situations.
  • Develops strategies to recruit and retain Clinical and RN Instructors working with colleges of nursing, LMC nursing leaders, and human resources.
  • Provides cost estimates for program needs for yearly budget. Ensures cost effective budget management through appropriate use of data and reports which track supplies, class fees and instructor salary dollars. Utilize materials in cost effective manner.
  • Develops brochures, in conjunction with marketing and advertising programs.
  • Working with involved staff, colleges of nursing, and other community partners, they design, implement, and evaluate revisions to educational programs and clinical experiences for students when deficiencies or opportunities for improvement are identified and shares program revisions with impacted or involved parties.
  • Provides appropriate climate for learning and facilitates the adult learning process.
  • Incorporates teaching and learning theories, curriculum and evaluation design, and technological options into educational approaches.
  • Incorporates creative methods for communicating with program participants into programming, particularly with targeted audience with specific learning needs (non-English speaking, hearing impaired, visually impaired).
  • Ensures the smooth operation of the online registration process for patient education programs.
  • Ensures RN Instructors demonstrate effective communication skills when interacting with patients/family/staff/class participants.
  • Uses outcome measures and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement. Leads, coordinates, and participates in the development and implementation of action plans and outcome measures to improve educational programs.
  • Reviews and analyzes feedback from class, instructor, and student experience evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitates change in a positive manner and within LMC's performance improvement framework and time lines.
  • Leads, coordinates, or participates in the design of programs to include objective measurement of the effectiveness of the programs and makes revisions as the outcome data indicate.
  • Communicates outcomes and resulting programmatic revisions to involved staff, community partners and participants as indicated.
  • Contributes to teamwork and creates harmonious, effective and positive working relationships with others: LMC, partnered schools, other area colleges and schools of health sciences.
  • Resolves conflicts and problem solves; exhibits telephone courtesy.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
