Job description

The Food Bank for Larimer County has a seasonal opening for a Kitchen Support & Delivery Assistant. This position will run from May 19, 2026 through August 14, 2026.

Summary: Join our team as a Summer Kitchen Support & Delivery Assistant at the Food Bank for Larimer County and become part of our mission to combat food insecurity among kids in our community during the summer months. As a vital link in our operation, you'll visit designated summer sites to deliver nutritious meals, bridging the gap left by school closures. You'll work alongside passionate team members, gaining insights into food insecurity in Larimer County and building relationships with local partners. Your impact will extend beyond delivery as you operate our van, ensuring food reaches those in need. With training in food safety, community kitchen guidelines, and more, you'll make a tangible difference while gaining valuable experience. Join us in making a real difference this summer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DRIVING, COMMUNITY MEAL SERVICE, AND ENGAGEMENT (70%)

Operate our organizational delivery van, ensuring timely communication with the Kitchen Manager regarding route changes or issues.

Maintain accurate inventory of supplies both on the vehicle and at partner service sites.

Assist with loading and unloading food, supplies, and equipment, supporting team members as needed.

Engage with the public to educate community members and volunteers on Kids Cafe programs and FBLC's mission, fostering positive relationships.

Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of company vehicles in adherence to food safety standards.

KITCHEN SUPPORT (25%)

Assist with food preparation for sites ensuring quality and quantity.

Support the coordination of volunteers, fostering teamwork and maximizing impact.

Maintain kitchen cleanliness by washing dishes, assisting with inventory management, and keeping work and storage areas clean and organized to ensure optimal efficiency.

Conduct random audits to minimize waste and promote cost-effective practices, ensuring food meets standards.

GENERAL (5%)

Maintain adherence to FBLC safety, OSHA, and food safety standards, prioritizing safety for oneself and others, including when operating company equipment or vehicles.

When representing the organization in local, state, and regional collaborations, take care to embody organizational values.

Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse viewpoints, including those shaped by different generations and cultures, while delivering exceptional customer service through kindness and engagement in all stakeholder interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

COMPETENCIES:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience working as a delivery driver preferred.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:

Successful completion of all pre-screening requirements.

21+ years of age and possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License with a good driving record, as confirmed through an MVR check.

LANGUAGE SKILLS & ABILITY: Proficiency in English required, bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct reports but may support the coordination of volunteers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily works outdoors, in and around vehicles, and has frequent exposure to public and private, non-FBLC warehouse environments, such as school sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear with or without aid, walk for short or extended periods of time, stand for short or extended periods of time, sit for short and extended periods of time, kneel, crouch, crawl, stoop, bend repeatedly, pull, reach above the shoulder with hands and arms, regularly use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel, pull, climb stairs or ladders, step up and down at least 29 inches, balance, write, count, read, analyze, alphabetize, and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 55 lbs., frequently push or pull objects up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL: Local travel in Larimer County using the organizational van.
