Job description

Title: Technical Program Manager
Location: Redmond, WA
Duration: 8 months
Compensation: $60-90/hr
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
In this role, the Technical Program Manager will support the research team that is working on the future of input and interaction for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). This role will focus on managing cross-functional software programs through the planning and execution phases while working with researchers and engineers. Other aspects of the job will include communicating with stakeholders, coordinating resources and timelines, and interfacing with partner teams in research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with internal research/engineering teams to define roadmaps/milestones,
track statuses of multiple projects, lead regular check-ins (weekly, monthly,
quarterly, etc.), identify and escalate dependencies and risks, seek and reduce
inefficiencies
Develop, maintain, and hold teams accountable to schedules while accounting
for technical challenges and available resources
Coordinate cross-functional interactions/dependencies and align disconnected
teams
Communicate program progress to cross-functional stakeholders through internal
posts and meetings
Organize and maintain information and task management systems
Develop new lightweight processes as needed and improve existing processes
based on feedback/retrospectives, keeping teams moving fast while minimizing
unnecessary overhead
Work with researchers to coordinate human subjects research experiments,
including lab setup and data collection and analysis operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of experience as a technical program manager, working with engineers
or researchers and driving project progress and schedules
Experience in software development, firmware, system engineering or
human-computer interaction
Excellent computer skills and proficient with spreadsheets (G Suite, Excel)
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, proactiveness, and
resourcefulness
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent
activities with ambiguity and to work successfully under pressure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in program management, process definition/improvements, relevant
tools and methodologies (e.g. Agile)
Experience with research, academic, and/or startup environments
Experience working autonomously with team members from diverse backgrounds
(scientists, engineers, program managers, supply chain, finance contacts,
lawyers) and teams at different levels in the organization
EDUCATION
Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience in areas of
computer science, machine learning, and/or human computer interaction required
MBA, M.S./Ph.D. or other related advanced degree preferred.
