Position Summary

DevTech is seeking a Communications Assistant to support the companys corporate, project-level, and client-facing communications needs. This short-term role is expected to start mid-July/early August and extend through January, with the potential to transition into a full-time position based on organizational needs and performance.

The Communications Assistant will work closely with DevTechs home office team to support communications, marketing, outreach, and product-related materials across the company. This role will also interface with government clients on DevTech products, helping ensure communications materials are clear, polished, strategically aligned, and responsive to client needs.

While responsibilities will evolve based on organizational priorities, a significant portion of the Assistants work will involve copyediting, content development, formatting, and communications support for DevTech products, proposals, reports, outreach materials, and client-facing deliverables. The Assistant may also support branding, social media, design, data visualization, and storytelling efforts.

This is a hybrid role based in Arlington, Virginia. The Assistant must be available to work in the DevTech office at least two days per week and must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for a U.S. government security clearance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support communications for DevTech products and client-facing tools, including materials that explain product features, updates, training resources, user guidance, and implementation support.
  • Coordinate with DevTech home office staff, technical teams, and project teams to develop clear, accurate, and polished communications materials.
  • Support product communications, outreach, training materials, and other project-related communications needs.
  • Assist in the production of communications and marketing materials, including:

- social media content

- blog posts

- case studies and success stories

- presentations and one-pagers

- factsheets, brochures, banners, and other outreach materials

  • Support management of DevTechs social media platforms and contribute to a consistent, strategic online presence.
  • Format proposals, reports, presentations, and outreach materials according to DevTech, Department of State, and other client branding requirements, while supporting Section 508 compliance.
  • Assist in implementing DevTechs marketing and communications strategy and project-level communications campaigns.
  • Support organizational change management, internal communications, and product adoption efforts.
  • Copyedit proposals, reports, client-facing materials, and other written products as needed.
  • Perform additional communications and/or administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Communications or other relevant field
  • Strong writing, editing, and copyediting skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and government clients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment and report to DevTechs Arlington, Virginia office at least two days per week.
  • The candidate must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for a U.S. government security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
  • Experience with AI tools.
  • Experience with Wordpress, Wix, or other website hosting platforms.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and interest in using visual tools to support storytelling.
  • Experience supporting communications for government clients, technical products, digital tools, or data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 compliance, federal branding requirements, or U.S. Government communications standards.
