Job Description:
The Communications Advisor is responsible for delivering timely, high-quality internal news coverage while also developing strategic, coordinated content for owned channels that helps demonstrate bp's impact across the US.
As part of the US communications & external affairs team you will balance daily storytelling with longer-term content production and promotion aligned with bp's business and advocacy priorities.
Through creative storytelling, this role helps translate bp's US strategy and investments into clear, engaging narratives that support US campaigns and reinforce bp's role as a long-term investor in America's energy future.
Key accountabilities
  • Write and edit stories for bp's global employee newsletter, ensuring accuracy, clarity and alignment with bp editorial standards.
  • Work closely with the newsletter editorial team to align coverage with news priorities and timelines.
  • Report, write and edit priority content for bp-owned channels in the US, including integrated stories aligned with advocacy campaigns and business priorities.
  • Develop production and promotion plans for each content project, including coordination of amplification activities across internal and external channels.
  • Collaborate with C&EA teams and creative partners to develop content for bp's US website and social media channels in creative, compelling and visually engaging ways.
  • Support development of bp's US Impact Report, including writing and editing report sections and other related materials.
  • Provide support for website and social media publishing as needed.

Skills and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, political science or related field.
  • Relevant experience in communications, journalism, content production or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex business topics into clear, engaging content.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced news or communications environment with frequent deadlines.
  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple stories or projects at once.
  • Consistently meet high standards of quality, performance and efficiency.
  • Results-oriented with ability to prioritize under pressure.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams and work effectively with senior partners and subject matter experts.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
  • Familiarity with content promotion and amplification planning across internal and external channels.
  • Experience supporting corporate or business-level reports and campaign-based storytelling.

How much do we pay (Base Pay)? ($111,000 - $165,000) *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 - 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays. Bp has a parental leave policy as well, which offers up to 8 weeks' paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child.
