Position: Senior Communications Advisor - Gubernatorial CampaignLocation: Remote
Reports to: Executive Director, Communications Director
Schedule: Full-time
Start/End Date: January โ November 2026
Compensation: $6,500-$7,000 monthly
The Senior Communications Advisor for the Florida Democratic Party works with the Executive Director, Chair, Communications Director, and stakeholders to drive earned media coverage and communicate the partyโs message against Republican gubernatorial candidates. This position is responsible for overseeing the partyโs overall communications and messaging strategy for the competitive 2026 gubernatorial race. This is an on-the-record role and will include overseeing internal and external communications, developing communications plans, executing events, and working with reporters.
Essential Functions:- On the record spokesperson for the governorโs race.
- Plan and oversee events including press conferences, press calls, and creative earned media opportunities.
- Draft media materials, including press releases, talking points, online content, and statements.
- Write short and longterm communications plans.
- Develop pitch ideas and pitch stories to reporters in Florida and nationally.
- Respond to media inquiries.
- Work with staff to manage difficult communications situations, including crisis communications.
Qualifications:- 3+ years working in political communications, preferably at least one cycle on a statewide campaign.
- Ontherecord experience.
- Proven ability to execute creative earned media campaigns.
- Previous record of working and communicating with multiple stakeholders.
- A willingness to work in a highpaced campaign environment with unpredictable hours.
