Job description

Systems Sales Consultant

Our client is a leading provider of integrated fire, life safety, and security solutions, delivering design, installation, and ongoing service for commercial and institutional facilities. With a strong presence across major U.S. markets and a growing national footprint, the company partners closely with contractors, engineers, and property stakeholders to deliver compliant, high-performance systems. Their work spans new construction, retrofits, and long-term service agreements, with a strong emphasis on reliability, technical accuracy, and long-term customer relationships.

We are seeking a Systems Sales Consultant to drive growth within a highly active and technical fire alarm business. This role is focused on selling fire alarm systems and related services into commercial construction and existing facilities, with a strong emphasis on bid-driven opportunities and contractor relationships.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable reviewing plans, performing takeoffs, and building accurate proposals while also developing relationships with key stakeholders such as electrical contractors, engineers, and general contractors. The territory covers the New York City market (5 boroughs), with flexibility depending on candidate experience and relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities in fire alarm systems and services
  • Review project specifications and bid packages to ensure accurate and competitive proposals
  • Perform takeoffs and develop detailed bills of materials aligned with project requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships with electrical contractors, engineers, general contractors, and property stakeholders
  • Manage and convert inbound leads while also generating new opportunities through field activity
  • Drive recurring revenue through service, inspection, and monitoring contracts
  • Maintain a high level of activity in the field, including site visits and customer meetings

Must-Have Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in fire alarm systems, low voltage systems, or a closely related field
  • Proven experience working with bid packages, takeoffs, and system design specifications
  • Strong understanding of bill of materials and proposal accuracy
  • Experience working with:
  • Electrical contractors
  • Engineers / A&D firms
  • General contractors
  • Ability to review and interpret fire alarm plans independently
  • Demonstrated success in a field-based, customer-facing role
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within territory

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience selling or working with fire alarm systems (e.g., Notifier, Gamewell/FCI, or similar platforms)
  • Familiarity with NYC fire code and local compliance requirements
  • NICET certification (Level IIIV)
  • Background in project management, engineering, estimating, or design within fire/life safety systems
  • Existing relationships within the contractor or engineering community

What Makes a Strong Candidate:

  • Technically fluent with the ability to translate plans into accurate proposals
  • Highly proactive in building relationships and generating opportunities in the field
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, bid-driven environment
  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership over deals and customer relationships

The Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $100,000 $122,000 + commission (~$200k at quota)
  • Uncapped commission structure with strong earning potential
  • Vehicle reimbursement program (monthly allowance + mileage)
  • Company-provided expense account for client engagement
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement options
  • Opportunity to join a growing organization with strong market demand and long-term career growth
