We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Safety Engineer to support the implementation and maintenance of safety programs within our Heavy Machine Shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for employees operating around forklifts, overhead cranes, robotic systems, CNC machines, and other manufacturing equipment, while ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and company safety policies.


The ideal candidate should possess a fundamental understanding of industrial safety practices, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring workplace safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Monitor forklift operations and traffic flow within the shop floor.
  • Conduct risk assessments for forklift-human interaction areas.
  • Ensure safe operation of overhead cranes used for lifting large components.
  • Verify lifting plans, load capacities, rigging methods, and lifting accessories.
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations and help prepare corrective action plans.
  • Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessments for all critical activities.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the machine shop floor.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or heavy engineering environments.
  • Experience in large-part manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with forklift, overhead crane, and robotic safety systems.
  • Understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident reporting.
  • Familiarity with PPE requirements and shop floor safety standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
