Job description

Prometheus Energetics is an independent U.S.-based merchant supplier of solid rocket motors and warheads. We are a joint venture between Kratos Defense and Security Solutions and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
We are currently seeking a Safety Manager to lead and manage all aspects of site safety across a 700+ acre campus that will encompass 49 buildings. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all OSHA, DoD, and ATF safety standards for energetic and explosive materials. The selected individual will play a key role in creating and enforcing policies and procedures that will protect people, products, and facilities.
Responsibilities:


Safety Management
• Develop, implement, and oversee safety policies, procedures, and training programs both for general industrial safety as well as specific to handling energetic and explosive materials
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ATF, DoD, and NFPA safety standards
• Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation plans across manufacturing and test operations
• Oversee incident investigations and corrective actions for all safety-related events
• Conduct and manage safety audits, inspections, and drills, including explosive safety site plans
Leadership & Compliance
• Establish and maintain a culture of safety and security throughout the company
• Lead safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors
• Determine needed resources for safety operations through annual budgeting and capital planning
• Support customer, regulatory, and government audits, inspections, and certifications
• Serve as key interface with executives, regulators, and customers on safety matters


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise with OSHA, ATF, DoD, and NFPA standards related to energetics and explosives safety
  • Experience managing safety programs for hazardous manufacturing facilities
  • Experience with energetic and explosive material safety programs in a manufacturing or test environment highly desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief executives and government agencies
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain a safety-first culture
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen

Education and Experience:

  • BS from an accredited institution in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications (CSP, ASP, etc.) highly desired
  • 10+ years of safety leadership experience in the defense, aerospace, energetics, or other hazardous manufacturing industries

Work Environment:

  • Office, factory, and explosive test facility environments
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in hazardous environments with appropriate PPE
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
