EHS SPECIALIST

Job Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role supports a proactive safety culture, minimizes operational risk, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to protect employees, the environment, and company assets.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure and low-pressure boilers supporting production and facility operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures.
  • Deliver safety training and awareness programs for employees at all organizational levels.
  • Monitor workplace conditions and enforce proper PPE usage.
  • Maintain EHS records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve EHS performance and strengthen safety culture.
  • Support emergency response planning, drills, and preparedness activities.
  • Track and report EHS metrics and performance data to leadership
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field with 8+ years of experience; OR
  • Master's degree with 6+ years of experience; OR
  • PhD with 3+ years of experience; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, compliance standards, and safety best practices.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and training facilitation abilities.
  • Ability to influence and engage employees across all levels of the organization.
Preferred:
  • CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or high-risk operational environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience with EHS management systems and reporting tools.
