Job description

Wine Tasting Room Associate

The Deep Sea Wine Tasting Room in the Ventura Harbor Village is looking for part-time tasting room associates who are excited to provide our guests with a memorable wine tasting experience. Our tasting room servers guide customers through a wine tasting flight, and share the story of how our wines are made. Our servers also learn to cook and serve artisanal pizzas and cheese plates, as well as several other options on our small plates menu. We offer a fantastic locals wine club; servers get commission on each wine club signup. Our tasting room overlooks the Ventura harbor, and is a fun, fast-paced environment with great people, and great wines. Previous sales and serving experience is appreciated. Current Food Handler's and RBS Certifications are a must, but may be obtained upon hiring. Servers must be able to work 2-4 shifts per week, including a minimum of one weekend day (also holidays if needed). Must be over 21.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a premium wine tasting experience – having a meaningful interaction with each guest.
  • Know how to accurately and carefully operate the POS system/handle cash
  • Be responsible for opening/closing duties of the tasting room
  • Assemble cheese plates and hot food items, as well as handle washing dishes and other BOH duties
  • Promote and sell wine and wine clubs to achieve sales goals
  • Participate in occasional team meetings
  • Available to work at least one weekend day, plus 2-3 additional shifts.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on hospitality.
  • Experience in hospitality and food preparation is a plus.
  • Passion for wine and the desire to be a strong team member.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift over 40 pounds (a case of wine) and be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate and Responsible Beverage Training Certificate Required (can be obtained at hiring).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. This role is essential for ensuring that our guests receive exceptional service and high-quality meals.
