Senior Technical Writer

About Your Role

You will play a critical role in documenting enterprise infrastructure and cloud platforms that support mission-critical payment and financial technology services. You will partner with engineers, architects, and project teams to transform complex technical implementations into clear, accurate, and actionable documentation for both operational support teams and platform engineering organizations.

What you'll do:

  • Research and analyze requirements for new infrastructure, data center, and cloud platform deployments to develop comprehensive technical documentation
  • Create and maintain detailed Microsoft Visio diagrams illustrating transaction flows, network connectivity, infrastructure topology, and system configurations
  • Collaborate with project managers to define documentation strategies, milestones, and delivery schedules for infrastructure initiatives
  • Partner with Windows, Unix, Cloud, Network, Security, Database, and Monitoring engineers to gather technical information and validate documentation accuracy
  • Author and publish technical documentation for multiple audiences, including online knowledge articles and infrastructure reference guides
  • Facilitate documentation reviews and turnover sessions through Microsoft Teams to ensure operational readiness and knowledge transfer
  • Participate in peer reviews, mentoring activities, and documentation standards development as a member of a centralized documentation team
  • Continuously evaluate and improve documentation processes, standards, and tools while incorporating emerging technologies and best practices

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 6+ years of experience creating technical documentation within enterprise IT, infrastructure, data center, systems, hardware, or cloud environments
  • 5+ years of experience documenting complex distributed systems, enterprise platforms, and operational support procedures.
  • 3+ years of experience collaborating with infrastructure engineers, including server environments, network communications protocols, firewall security, WAN/LAN architectures, and system monitoring solutions
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Visio and creating detailed technical diagrams and process flows
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Prior experience producing both online knowledge base content and formal technical reference documentation
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize competing deadlines, lead documentation review sessions, and adapt to changing business requirements
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Knowledge Management or Knowledge Base modules
  • Experience supporting large-scale financial services, fintech, or highly regulated technology organizations

Travel:

Salary Range

$60,000.00 - $105,600.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
