Job description

Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for a Nuclear Command, Control, Communications (NC3) SME to support Headquarters United States Air Force (AF/A10) in providing Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration. This effort delivers technical, analytical, operational, programmatic, and planning subject-matter expertise to AF/A10 and its component divisions to advance national security strategic plans, policies, concepts, and initiatives. Support areas include international treaties and agreements, the Foreign Clearance Program, Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction, nuclear stockpile and enterprise management, missile defense, nuclear deterrence research and education, strategic policy, ancillary IT support, and program management.

This is a full-time position, located on-site at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.

  • Serve as on-site NC3 SME and primary Government point of contact for NC3 requirements
  • Advise on NC2 authorities, C2 relationships, and NC3 operating principles
  • Provide expertise on waveforms, technologies, and enterprise systems associated with NC3
  • Offer working knowledge of communications and IT for the NC3 weapon system (AN/USQ-225) and supporting space-related technologies
  • Analyze, review, and respond to technical questions, challenges, and concerns from the Government
  • Assist the Government in answering technical and operational inquiries from Congressional staff, OSD, interagency partners, and industry
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to assess NC3 capability gaps and provide technical recommendations
  • Prepare and deliver briefings, reports, and documentation to support AF NC3 decision-making

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen 
Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain TS/SCI level clearance with SAP eligibility
Education: Bachelor's degree 
Years of Experience: Twenty-five (25) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, including fifteen (15) years of DoD experience

Additional Experience:

  • Experience with waveform technologies and platform and system IT principles
  • Ability to understand and assess the complexity of interconnected systems
  • Experience planning, directing, and managing complex and extended projects
  • Knowledge of Air Staff, JS, and OSD organization and documentation processes
  • Knowledge of how USAF, USSF, and USN NC3 capabilities, platforms, and technologies interact
  • Experience crafting creative technical solutions
  • Ability to translate NC3 strategy into achievable technical solutions
  • Experience working in complex environments with multiple points of contact
  • Experience generating briefings and decision papers

Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree
Years of Experience: Twenty (20) years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, including twelve (12) years of DoD experience
