Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Regional Director of Operations is responsible for the professional, efficient and standardized operation of the health care facilities owned by Monarch Healthcare Management in order to meet the Company's objectives related to resident services, as such objectives are stated in the Company's Personnel Policies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Establishes and maintains efficient operation of the facilities utilizing strong management principles and leadership qualities

· Coordinates and directs overall resident care services and operations of the facilities.

· Reviews and revises the organizational structure with the VP of Operations.

· Maintains routine contact and problem-solving focus with the Administrators and Housing Directors.

· Visits each health care facility weekly or the equivalent thereof unless instructed by the VP of Operations due to a specific need at one specified location.

· Has particular weight in hiring, firing, directing, reviewing, checking and evaluating the health care facility's Administrator/Housing Director, with input from VP of Operations.

· Conducts orientation and ongoing training for Administrators/Housing Directors.

· Completes performance evaluations and maintains personnel files for Administrators/Housing Directors.

· Replaces, "fills in", for Administrators/Housing Directors during their vacations or any leave of absence.

· Develops and determines with the VP of Operations the staffing needs and budget levels at each of the facilities.

· Responsible for development/maintenance and maximization of the resident occupancy at each of the health care facilities.

Facilitates the implementation of new policies and procedures within the facilities and assures education levels

· Responsible for coordination of communication, and consistent interpretation of all policies and procedures.

· Complies with all policies and procedures of Monarch Healthcare Management.

· Assures health care facilities maintain adherence to all policies and procedures.

· Conducts meetings or workshops with Administrators/Housing Directors, department director groups and line staff, as necessary to accomplish Company objectives.

· Has overall responsibility for assuring the proper ongoing education of supervisory personnel, including final approval of all workshop attendance by Company personnel.

· Complies with the Monarch Healthcare Code of Ethics, and ensures that those employees under his/her supervision understand and comply with the Code of Ethics.

Is knowledgeable of and follows federal, state and local standards for nursing home compliance:

· Assures health care facilities compliance with all federal, state and other such standards which are required for each facility's continued operation and good standing with all appropriate agencies.

· Keeps current on all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations regarding nursing home and assisted living operations.

Promotes and establishes healthy relationships and uses professional conduct with residents, families, visitors, supervisors, co-workers and community

· Acts as a positive role model, influence and resource to Administrators, Housing Directors and all staff of Monarch Healthcare Management.

· Develops good rapport and credibility with all employees.

· Maintains good public relations.

· Directs and promotes the effective marketing of each facility’s services.

· Represents the Company professionally in community activities.

· Assures sufficient communication with each Administrator/Housing Director so as to be knowledgeable of all developments in each facility necessary for the performance of this job.

· Is involved in the hiring, firing and evaluation of each facility's department directors.

· Develops knowledge of each facility's department director's job performance to facilitate equitable merit treatment of such directors on a company-wide basis.

· Develops knowledge of each facility's department director's job performance to facilitate employment advancement of directors whose performance merits such advancement as Company needs dictate.

· Works to recruit and develop all staff to maintain professional employee conduct in their service to the facilities’ residents.

· Hires, fires and evaluates all Coordinators, Consultants, Medical Directors and other such practitioners who provide service, yet are not related to the Company.

· Meets with the VP of Operations regularly in order to keep the VP of Operations apprised of the ongoing status of each facility's operation.

· Responsible for employee recognition and special events. Responsible for special events involving residents and resident's families.

· Follows all policies and procedures in Personnel Policy Manual.

To understand and communicate the financial policies governing the facilities and maintain compliance with established budgets

· Implements financial policies and controls as established by the Company.

· Reviews the financial status of each facility with the VP of Operations, as necessary.

· Relates appropriate financial information to Administrators/Housing Directors and performs follow-up review assuring that results dictated by information are achieved.

· Works with Administrators/Housing Directors and shares in responsibility for budget results compliance.

· Keep the VP of Operations apprised of the ongoing status of each facility's budget compliance efforts.

· Authorizes purchases of all equipment and other non-routine supplies pending approval of the VP of Operations.

FACILITY COMPLIANCE

· Promotes a highly positive workplace centered on strong customer service, inclusivity and ensuring staff feel welcome and supported.

· Responsible for all Company programs.

· Provides oversight and assures follow-through with the Continuous Quality Improvement program at each of the facilities.

· Responsible for evaluation of building maintenance, interior, exterior, grounds and equipment of all facilities.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

· Must be a Graduate of an accredited college and licensed as a health care administrator in the State of Minnesota.

· Must have Experience in administrative, business and personnel functions in health-related fields.

· Must Possess initiative, good judgment and leadership ability.

· Must have the ability to deal with a great variety of people. Continuing education in the health care field is required.

· Must be able to perform essential physical and environmental requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

· Must Qualify for employment after criminal background check, per guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

Preferred

· Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community
