Position Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career architectural professional to build hands-on project experience with a nationally established commercial architecture firm. As a Project Coordinator with MCG Architecture, you will support Project Directors, Project Managers, Designers, and Job Captains in the delivery of retail, restaurant, mixed-use, storage, hospitality, office, and other commercial projects.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys Revit production, project coordination, technical learning, and seeing how projects move from early planning through permitting and construction administration. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle while developing the skills needed to grow into a Job Captain, Project Architect, or Project Manager role.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update Revit models under the direction of senior project staff
  • Produce plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, diagrams, and presentation materials
  • Assist with design development, permit, and construction document packages
  • Maintain project drawing sets, directories, consultant files, transmittals, meeting notes, and document-control records
  • Incorporate redlines accurately and completely
  • Verify coordinated revisions are reflected throughout the drawing set
  • Assist with building code, zoning, accessibility, product, and jurisdictional research
  • Document research findings for review by Project Managers and Job Captains
  • Support civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, landscape, signage, and specialty-consultant coordination
  • Help identify drawing and model conflicts
  • Assist with agency submissions, plan-check responses, permit tracking, and document revisions
  • Support construction administration through RFIs, submittals, field reports, punch lists, and closeout documentation
  • Participate in internal project meetings and selected client or consultant meetings
  • Record project decisions, action items, and assigned responsibilities
  • Follow through on assignments and communicate potential schedule or coordination issues
  • Progressively assume ownership of small projects or defined project components
  • Continue developing technical knowledge, code understanding, and project-delivery skills

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or a related design discipline
  • Experience: Approximately 2-5+ years of architectural experience
  • Internship Experience: Relevant architectural internships may count toward the experience requirement
  • Software: Working proficiency in Revit
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction documents, building systems, codes, accessibility, and consultant coordination
  • Drawing Skills: Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
  • Organization: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, and time management
  • Communication: Strong verbal, written, and collaborative communication skills
  • Work Style: Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment
  • Growth Mindset: Willingness to learn, accept constructive feedback, and continue developing professionally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Architecture Program: Candidates completing an accredited architecture program may be considered with relevant internship experience and a strong portfolio
  • Software: Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, or architectural visualization tools
  • Project Experience: Exposure to retail, restaurant, commercial, tenant improvement, mixed-use, hospitality, office, or self-storage projects
  • Permitting: Familiarity with permit sets, plan check responses, agency coordination, and jurisdictional research
  • Construction Administration: Exposure to RFIs, submittals, field reports, punch lists, or closeout documentation
  • Licensure Path: Interest in pursuing architectural licensure
  • Career Growth: Desire to grow into a Job Captain, Project Architect, or project-management role

Project Types

  • Retail tenant improvements
  • Restaurant and grocery projects
  • National-account and prototype rollout programs
  • Ground-up commercial shell buildings
  • Shopping centers and mixed-use developments
  • Facade renovation and retail repositioning
  • Building remodels and adaptive reuse
  • Signage and accessibility upgrades
  • Hospitality and office projects
  • Self-storage developments
  • Projects moving through feasibility, entitlements, design development, permitting, bidding, and construction administration

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of $65,000-$85,000, depending on experience, education, technical capability, and commercial project exposure
  • Estimated total annual compensation package of approximately $86,100-$108,900
  • Two performance bonuses each year
  • Employer-paid employee health benefits
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Professional development and mentorship opportunities
  • Opportunities for advancement within a national architecture practice

The estimated package value includes base salary, a combined target bonus modeled at 10% of salary, an estimated 4% employer 401(k) match, and approximately $12,000 in employer-paid employee health coverage. Actual value will depend on final plan terms, elected coverage, and individual and company performance.
