Your role at GEI. 
 
GEI Consultants, Inc., a leading engineering consulting company in the United States, is seeking a highly motivated fall 2026 intern to perform a broad range of engineering duties to support our environmental investigation, remediation, and permitting practices in our Mount Laurel, New Jersey office.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties 
  • Candidates will work with engineers, contractors, and clients assisting staff with data collection, management, and review for a wide range of environmental projects.
  • Describe and classify soil samples.
  • Soil and groundwater sample collection.
  • Report daily progress/problems in the field to task supervisor.
  • Travel to project sites required.
  • Office support, including preparation of technical memos, reports, construction specifications, and AutoCAD and/or GIS drawings. 
Minimum Qualifications 
  • In pursuit of BS or MS in Civil Engineering/ Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.  
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER is a plus.
  • Proven communication, writing, time management, and organization skills.
  • Ability to work well with project teams.
  • Ability and willingness to perform field work in inclement weather.
  • Travel on various field assignments as needed.
  • Valid USA State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD software is considered a plus.
  • Previous experience with soil characterization, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling a plus.
