Dentons US LLP is recruiting for a Business Development Manager to support the Litigation practice. This role works closely with litigation practice leaders and lawyers to develop and execute business development and marketing initiatives that strengthen client relationships, support new business opportunities and enhance the profile of the practice. The ideal candidate is a true selfstarter who proactively identifies opportunities and drives initiatives forward rather than simply responding to requests.

The Business Development Manager will serve as a handson partner to lawyers, leading pitches and proposals and supporting practicelevel strategy while collaborating closely with colleagues across business development, marketing and communications.  This is a hybrid position and open to any Dentons location.


Key responsibilities

Proposal development and management

Practice and partner support

  • Work with Litigation practice leaders to assess business development needs and support implementation of strategic priorities
  • Partner with lawyers to support client development efforts including target identification, pursuit strategy and followthrough, proactively surfacing opportunities and flagging concerns to leadership as appropriate
  • Prepare and deliver annual "Year in Review" reports and conduct data analysis to measure ROI and identify growth opportunities
  • Attend practice group meetings and proactively identify opportunities for collaboration, crossselling and talent needs within the practice

Pitches, proposals and credentials

  • Lead and support pitches, proposals and responses to Requests for Proposals for litigation matters
  • Draft and coordinate compelling content for proposals, presentations and related materials in alignment with firm branding
  • Collect, maintain and leverage matter and case information for use in pitches, credentials, biographies and marketing materials

Business development strategy and research

  • Conduct market, industry and competitive intelligence research to identify growth opportunities
  • Monitor client, sector and geographic trends and prepare insightdriven research and briefing materials for partners
  • Create customized client briefing dossiers to support partner meetings and outreach

Thought leadership, events and visibility

  • Support the development and promotion of litigation thought leadership initiatives
  • Assist with planning and execution of seminars, webinars, sponsorships and client events
  • Collaborate with communications and public relations colleagues to support media and profileraising opportunities

Rankings, directories and profileraising

  • Draft and manage Chambers USA and other legal directory and awards submissions
  • Work with lawyers to identify and articulate key matters and credentials

Lateral integration and internal collaboration

  • Support onboarding and integration of lateral partners including business development planning, biographies and announcements; help identify and attract strong talent to the practice
  • Collaborate with recruiting, marketing, communications and other internal teams to ensure coordinated support

Tools, technology and reporting

  • Use CRM and marketing technology tools to support client targeting, tracking and information sharing
  • Track business development activity and contribute to reporting and analysis that demonstrate impact

Qualifications and experience

  • 7 plus years of business development or marketing experience in a professional services environment with law firm experience required (BD litigation experience preferred)
  • Experience supporting litigation practices or complex subject matter teams
  • Demonstrated experience supporting pitches, proposals and client development initiatives
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, clientfocused messaging
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proven ability to work effectively with partners and senior stakeholders
  • A selfstarter who is strategic, proactive and serviceoriented with strong problemsolving skills and the initiative to drive projects independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as CRM tools
  • Familiarity with marketing technology and emerging tools including AIenabled platforms is a plus

Salary 

Pursuant with states' laws, the salary range for this position is $140,000 - $180,000, based on experience and local market.
