The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Classification Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Providing ongoing training and direction to operations and business unit personnel regarding harmonized tariff schedule (HTS) and other government agency reporting requirements
  • Holding ownership of tariff classification rules and maintenance of existing data to ensure data accuracy
  • Actively monitoring tariff classification changes for your designated region(s), updating internal databases and communicating this to external brokers
  • Demonstrating effective communication skills and strong analytical ability to anticipate and resolve issues while enabling improved decision making
  • Demonstrating knowledge of regulatory requirement and utilizing depth and breadth of experience to establish trade policies and procedures aligned with regulatory changes, risk and impact
  • Monitoring and seeking to influence applicable country trade regulatory activity and serve as a liaison at both national and local agency levels
  • Driving improved regulatory compliance and business effectiveness through process optimization

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher AND 5 (five) years of professional experience in harmonized tariff schedule (HTS) Classification.
    OR
  • Highschool/ GED AND US Customs broker license AND 9 (nine) years of professional experience in harmonized tariff schedule (HTS) Classification.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • US Licensed Customs broker or equivalent in a foreign jurisdiction
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated expertise applying general rules of HTS classification (GRIs) and concepts such as "essential character".
  • Ability to interpret customs rulings, engineering drawings/schematics and communicate technical information clearly
  • Experience with large and transformative projects involving international trade
  • Experience working cross-functionally across different geographies, functions, and systems of record
  • Expertise with trade focus areas such as release, classification, valuation, and trade risk management
  • Familiarity/working knowledge of PGAs
  • Experience handling broker inquiries.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with SAP GTS and Tradeflow is a plus

Work location:
  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Eagan, MN or San Antonio, TX at least 3 days per week)

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $83,600 - $114,950, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
