Job description

Job Summary:
The Decision Support Analyst performs administrative support services for the Director of Case Management and the department. Perform clerical duties as assigned. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to implement processes to improve workflow. The candidate will be a problem solver, who demonstrates attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectively, while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
The incumbent assists with utilization review program in areas that may include preadmission certifications, admission certifications, concurrent reviews, denials management; collecting data, issuing notices as needed.
Acts as a liaison with patients, physicians, physician's office staff, third party payers, and hospitals. Enter pertinent information in EPIC as defined by director and team leader.
Essential Functions:
  • Clerical duties include but not limited to: telephone inquiries; transcribing meeting minutes; completing reports, managing mail routing, and fax documents; filing and monthly staffschedules.
  • Orders supplies for the department and assists with the management of department's invoices.
  • The Decision Support Analyst will be responsible for running monthly reports and completing dashboards as directed by the Director or Case Management Team Leader, for monthly meetings.
  • Assists department leadership in managing and ensuring updates are completed on all policies and procedures, such as case management department policies, utilization management plan, and procedure manual, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to establish good rapport with all all customers, internal and external, while being sensitive to their cultural religious beliefs.
  • Collect data regarding governmental notice such as Important Message and Medicare, Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice, Hospital Notice of Non-Coverage, and reports the findings to department leadership.
  • Assists with monitoring and tracking pre-certifications.
  • Understands privacy rules and regulations, maintains all HIPAA and other privacy rules.
  • At the direction of the departmental leadership, the incumbent will scan appropriate documents into the correct patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR). These documents may include but not be limited to medical documents from outside facilities; third-party payer notices such as approvals, authorizations or denials that may arrive via fax or mail.
  • Schedule meetings and transcribes accurate minutes as indicated and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with coordinating and tracking activities of physician advisors, such as time log, check requests, etc.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with all customers, internal and external, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma required.
Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
Work Experience:
  • Three or more years of experience using decision support systems and performing clerical duties, in a healthcare facility is preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge and experience health information systems and data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organization ability and strong communication skills are required. Ability to handle multiple projects.

Mental Demands:
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with various computer systems to perform assigned duties, including but not limited to Referral Management System, Epic, MS Outlook. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Excellent problem-solving skills
