Job description

Ergon, Inc. is seeking a Director of Claims and is responsible for leading Ergon's enterprise claims function, including strategy, execution, and performance. This role oversees all aspects of claims management, including litigation, third party administrator oversight, and analytics, with a focus on reducing total cost of risk and improving outcomes across the organization. This position serves as a key partner to business units, insurance carriers, and outside counsel and reports directly to the VP of Risk Management. Ergon, Inc. is a relationship-driven company that values each employee's willingness to learn and contribute to the team. Claims Director Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the enterprise claims function, including oversight of all casualty claims and related processes
  • Direct litigation strategy in coordination with outside counsel
  • Partner with business units to manage claims, gather documentation, and support effective resolution strategies
  • Oversee third party administrators and vendors, including performance management, audits, and contract oversight
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce claim frequency and severity, including the use of analytics and reporting
  • Manage claims-related financial processes, including reserving oversight, bill review, and reimbursements
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on claim trends, drivers, and opportunities for improvement

Claims Director Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree/Juris Doctor preferred
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in claims, litigation, or insurance, preferably within a large organization or law firm
  • 3 to 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of casualty claims, litigation strategy, and workers compensation
  • Experience managing third party administrators or outside counsel
