As a Citrix engineer, your duties are to utilize Citrix products to build, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot Citrix products for companies or organizations. Your responsibilities may also involve helping end users learn how to use company products or services, as well as testing, implementing, and maintaining products or extensions that will improve business efficiency.

To thrive as a Citrix Engineer, you need expertise in virtualization technologies, networking, and Windows server environments, often backed by a degree in IT or related certifications like Citrix Certified Associate (CCA) or Citrix Certified Professional (CCP). Familiarity with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix ADC, Active Directory, and monitoring tools is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills, and effective communication help you resolve complex technical issues and support end-users. These abilities ensure secure, efficient, and reliable delivery of virtual applications and desktops vital to organizational productivity.

What are some common challenges Citrix engineers face when supporting large-scale virtual environments?

Citrix Engineers often encounter challenges such as managing user experience and performance across diverse endpoints, troubleshooting complex application delivery issues, and ensuring security compliance in multi-user environments. Keeping up with frequent updates, patches, and compatibility between Citrix components and other infrastructure (like networking or storage) can also be demanding. Collaborating closely with network, security, and helpdesk teams is essential to quickly resolve issues and maintain a seamless virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) experience for end users.

Job description

IT Field Engineer I - Atlanta
Department: Service Delivery
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Description
At VC3, we don't just solve IT problems - we own them. We serve hundreds of municipalities and organizations across the United States and Canada, bringing IT to the people who need it most. We believe in earning trust, having a growth mindset, and delivering excellence every single time.
We're a team of doers, builders, and tech whisperers who live by 4 core values:
Go Beyond | Own It | Be Curious| Serve as One
We pride ourselves on making IT personal, making IT easy, and getting IT right. And it all starts with our talented team that is committed to raising the bar.
The Impact you will have:
In this role, you'll provide hands-on support at client sites, resolving technical issues across hardware, software and networks. You will ensure client success through timely resolution and consistent communication. You will understand and follow the VC3 Way, our set of standards and processes to ensure a predictable result for the customer.
What you will be doing:
  • Drive to client sites as scheduled while adhering to appointment schedules and promptly communicating any delays to the Service Coordinator
  • Install and set up new computer hardware, software and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot and resolve onsite issues related to workstations and printers
  • Collaborate with VC3 technical staff as onsite support for connectivity issues including ISPs, wireless networks, DHCP, DNS, and remote access technologies including VPN, RDS and Citrix
  • Educate and guide VC3 clients on technical standards and best practices
  • Identify recurring issues and initiate problem tickets for them
  • Make recommendations to the VC3 team for improvements of supported hardware and software
  • Maintain accurate and real time timesheets, record complete and accurate notes of troubleshooting and communication with clients
  • Participate in the on-call rotation (1 week every 3-4 months)
  • Additional duties as assigned

The tools you bring:
  • Full-time access to a vehicle, a valid driver's license, and no driving restrictions. Business class insurance for the vehicle if residing in Canada
  • 2 years of relevant technical experience OR 1 year experience in Service Technician I or II roles at VC3
  • 2 years experience managing: Windows Client Operating Sytems (10,11), Microsoft/Office 365, Virus and Security, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS
  • Go Beyond - you take that extra step to create moments that are unexpected but appreciated.
  • Own It - You have the courage to do what's right, the resolve to take responsibility, and the grit to cross the finish line.
  • Be Curious - You challenge the status quo and aim for continuous improvement and constant learning.
  • Serve as One - You believe that together, we are greater than the sum of our individuals, and that teamwork is essential to success.

What's in it for you:
  • Flexibility- We're remote-first, but not remote-only. Some roles include an onsite component, depending on team needs. We aim to give you the flexibility to do your best work, plus company-paid time off to help you thrive in work and in life.
  • Well-being & Support - Caring for our team goes beyond the workday. We offer a range of benefits to support your overall well-being, from mental health and leave support through our Employee and Family Assistance Program, to financial wellness through company-matched 401(k)/RRSP plans. Whether it's today's needs or tomorrow's goals, we've got you covered.
  • Grow with Us - Whether you're just getting started or ready to take the next step, we are committed to investing in your growth. We offer structured development through our Leadership Academy, monthly learning sessions, mentorship programs, learning reimbursements, internal career fairs, job shadowing, and personalized career-pathing to support internal mobility.
  • People-First Culture - We live our values, support each other, and create a space where everyone belongs. We have a common goal of doing work that matters, with autonomy, recognition, and a mission to serve those who serve.
  • Transparent Leadership - From open communication to clear company goals, our leaders are involved, and our managers are here to support your growth every step of the way.

Applicant selected will be subject to a criminal and department of motor vehicles background checks and must meet Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) requirements post-employment
