Job description

Overview
Design, install, and support the hospital's server environment (Windows and Linux). Provide design assistance, implement, test and maintain the hospital's infrastructure systems. Utilize third party management tools, assist in the implementation of hospital application programs, ensure network backup and security systems are operative, and enforce Information Security policies. Perform project and issue resolution duties (including on-call) as required.
Responsibilities
  1. Performs Server Services operational activities, including but not limited to server installation, , issue troubleshooting and resolution, software upgrades, security patches, performance monitoring, performance tuning, enterprise application administration, and documentation updates.
  2. Performs IT infrastructure projects as assigned. These projects include enterprise systems such as Exchange email, VMware, Citrix, enterprise backups, enterprise storage, shared file & print services, and remote access solutions.
  3. Participates in the design, installation, and support of Information Systems and other departmental projects involving infrastructure and server components as assigned. These projects include application installs, major system upgrades, facility construction / renovation, local server backup/storage, and department moves.
  4. Performs installation and maintenance of the Windows and Linux server environments for enterprise, clinical, and financial applications. Monitors environment status to proactively identify issues when possible. Contacts outside vendors when necessary to facilitate system support and issue resolution.
  5. Participates in the implementation of infrastructure solutions and associated procedures. Ensures security policies are followed by all network users (including hospital staff, physicians, and outside vendors). Notify Server Services Coordinator or other IS management of suspected risks or violations.
  6. Performs installation and monitoring of server back-up solutions for application data and system software. Monitors and records status of systems backups. Reports and resolves system backup issues as identified.
  7. Provides regular updates on project status, support issues, and other operational activities to Server Services Coordinator, Technical Services Manager, and other IS personnel (as required).

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
  1. Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field; or ten (10) or more years of relevant work experience
  2. Two (2) years experience in IT environment utilizing Windows Server, TCP/IP, VMware, Active Directory
  3. Must possess excellent analytical skills
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of ITIL procedures, hardware, software, and security
  5. Excellent technical troubleshooting skills
  6. Excellent communications and customer service skills
  7. Extensive knowledge of standard network protocols, standard server operating systems, and enterprise network applications (e.g., Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, anti-virus software, firewalls, backup systems, DNS, TCP/IP)
  8. Ability to communicate effectively
