Job Description
Senior Citrix Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Citrix Engineer to provide technical leadership and advanced engineering support for a wide range of customers. This role will design, implement, manage, secure, and optimize Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
The Senior Citrix Engineer will serve as a senior escalation point for complex Citrix issues, coordinate recommended solutions with operational and engineering teams, and evaluate the impact of changes across global sites. The role will also partner with project teams to develop mitigation plans, coordinate testing, and approve solutions for production implementation.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Citrix professional to shape resilient, secure, and high-performing end-user computing services while mentoring junior and mid-level administrators.
Responsibilities
  • Deploy, configure, operate, and maintain Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments and associated components, including StoreFront, Provisioning Services (PVS), Machine Creation Services (MCS), Director, User Profile Management (UPM), and Delivery Controllers.
  • Design and manage non-persistent Citrix Virtual Desktops environments running Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Design, architect, deploy, and maintain Citrix NetScaler/ADC services, including Gateway, VIP configuration, Rewrite and Responder policies, certificate management, and traffic analysis.
  • Build and support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, as well as on-premises data centers through Citrix Cloud.

  • Create, test, and maintain golden images using Citrix App Layering technology.
  • Use Citrix Cloud capabilities, including identity and access management, SAML 2.0, Citrix Gateway, and Workspace Configuration.
  • Upgrade, patch, migrate, and continuously improve Citrix infrastructure and supporting components.
  • Diagnose and resolve Citrix site availability, performance, and end-user issues; engage Citrix Support when escalation is required.
  • Provide senior-level escalation support and coordinate troubleshooting across Citrix, infrastructure, security, network, storage, and application teams.
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed changes across global sites and develop mitigation plans for potential service interruptions or adverse effects.
  • Coordinate solution testing, validate technical outcomes, and approve solutions for implementation in accordance with change-control procedures.
  • Develop and maintain operations and support standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and support runbooks.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level Citrix administrators and share technical knowledge across the team.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and support critical incidents as needed.
Required Skills
  • Strong engineering experience designing, implementing, managing, and securing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, and NetScaler/ADC environments.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of StoreFront, PVS, MCS, Director, UPM, Delivery Controllers, and related Citrix components.
  • Experience designing and operating VDI environments using PVS and MCS technologies.
  • Experience with Citrix App Layering and the creation and maintenance of standardized golden images.
  • Experience with Citrix Cloud and its core capabilities, including Workspace Configuration, Citrix Gateway, and identity and access management using SAML 2.0.
  • Experience deploying and managing Citrix solutions in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, as well as in traditional on-premises data centers.
  • Strong knowledge of Citrix NetScaler/ADC, including Gateway, Rewrite and Responder policies, certificates, VIPs, and traffic analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, TCP/IP, and Active Directory user and group administration.
  • Working knowledge of NFS, VMware, basic database administration, and enterprise management systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows desktop and server operating systems in enterprise environments.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues, work independently, and collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical resources, program leadership, and customer stakeholders.
Desired Skills
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), including host pools, session hosts, application groups, workspaces, and FSLogix profile containers.
  • Familiarity with Omnissa Horizon, including desktop pools, instant clones, Horizon Client, and basic troubleshooting of user access and session issues.
Basic Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in a Citrix engineering role;
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise Citrix environments in a senior engineering, architecture, or escalation-support capacity.
  • Ability to participate in change-control processes, coordinated testing and production implementation.
  • Citrix certifications including CCE-V (Citrix Certified Expert - Virtualization) and CCE-AppDS (Citrix Certified Expert - App Delivery and Security)
