JOB INFORMATION:
Job Title: Systems Admin - Datacenter Infrastructure
Department(s): 5072 - Information Technology
Location(s): Garden City Terminal
FLSA Status: Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Manager - Datacenter Infrastructure, the System Administrator - Datacenter Infrastructure is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of Windows and unix-based systems, virtualized environments, storage solutions, and backup/recovery processes. Installs infrastructure hardware and software, provides system support and participates in research and development to continuously improve and support IT business needs. Works closely with personnel in user areas to provide a stable and functional IT environment, actively resolves problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company.
Upholds the values of the GPA to promote Safety, Integrity, Respect, Community, Creativity and Opportunity. Promotes a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and reliable operation of datacenter infrastructure environments.
  • Monitor and evaluates infrastructure system performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business.
  • Assists in maintaining Windows, IBM AIX and RedHat Linux environments for stability, performance and recovery.
  • Assists in managing and optimizing enterprise level storage devices for stability and performance.
  • Assists in maintaining enterprise level system backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Assists in maintaining DR datacenter system functionality and reliability.
  • Creates, maintains, and updates system documentation and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT projects and initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolves system problems.
  • Analyzes information system activity to discover and prevent systematic errors; recommends system design changes/enhancements for improved system availability and performance.
  • Assists in helpdesk support efforts ensuring all system, server, application, workstation, and related problems are resolved with limited disruptions.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to ensure continuous improvement.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Working knowledge of Windows, IBM AIX, RedHat Linux and Openshift operating systems highly desired.Working Knowledge of Oracle middleware administration experience desired.Working knowledge of VMWare virtual infrastructure management desired.Working knowledge of enterprise level storage technologies and backup/recovery solutions desired.Working knowledge of networking concepts and protocols desired.Working knowledge of SFTP, NFS and SMB desired.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience
  • 1-3 years Experience in system administration or IT support. Preferred
  • Experience in systems engineering and managing systems infrastructure in a professional environment. Preferred
