Overview

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineer 1 to join our team. This role is ideal for candidates with 1-3 years of experience who have a strong technical foundation and a passion for designing, implementing, and maintaining system solutions. This position will work closely with senior engineers to support system development, troubleshooting, and optimization while ensuring high performance and reliability. 

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure.

  • Install and support the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of hardware and software that drive the company's portfolio of applications. 

  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure system integration. 

  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure optimal functionality and performance. 

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including procedures, diagrams, and technical reports. 

  • Participate in incident response and problem resolution efforts under the guidance of senior engineers. 

  • Assist with system upgrades, patches, and security enhancements. 

  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support IT projects and initiatives. 

  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and junior team members.

    Qualifications

What You Bring to the Team  

  • Education: Associate/bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field 

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in systems engineering, IT support, or a related role. 

  • Technical Skills: 

    • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux). 

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, Firewalls). 

    • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus. 

  • Competence in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Terraform or PowerShell). 

    • Familiarity with virtualization and containerization (VMware, Docker, or Kubernetes). 

  • Exposure to cybersecurity principles and best practices. 

    • Experience with system monitoring and automation tools is a plus. 

  • Ability to use AI tools to assist with system troubleshooting, automation development, documentation, and operational best practices. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, and working on a computer for extended periods. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.
  • Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace.
  • Team members who live within commuting distance of one of our office locations (Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky or Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence as determined by the team or department.
