We are seeking a Chief Building Engineer Supervisor to lead engineering operations across a 2.8 million sq. ft., multi building mixed-use campus in Atlanta. The campus includes office, laboratory, and warehouse environments, supporting a dynamic and high-visibility corporate headquarters.
This role oversees a team of 12 engineers and maintenance technicians and is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all building systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to engage effectively with client stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a CBRE Chief Building Engineer Supervisor, you will supervise the team responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing ongoing maintenance and repair operations for a facility, a campus, or a portfolio of buildings.
This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and is responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 12 engineers/technicians; manage scheduling, performance, and training
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning

Engineering Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple buildings and system types
  • Assign and prioritize maintenance work (reactive vs. preventive)
  • Ensure reliability and performance of critical systems (HVAC, electrical, UPS, generators, BAS)

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs and procedures
  • Drive asset lifecycle planning and system reliability improvements
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies

Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate system risks, priorities, and performance updates
  • Act as liaison to client leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with: Engineering Operations Manager (direct report), Facility Managers and Coordinators

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce safety standards, procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Lead incident response and risk mitigation efforts

Financial & Operational Planning
  • Support maintenance budgeting, forecasting, and cost estimation
  • Track labor and materials to ensure efficient resource utilization

Emergency Response
  • Lead response to critical system failures and after-hours escalations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, personnel development, etc. Responsible to plan, implement, coordinate, and supervise all mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and personnel development programs for assigned properties.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Required Experience (Must-Have)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building engineering, facilities, or technical services
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Experience supporting complex or multi-building environments

Technical Expertise
  • HVAC systems
  • Electrical systems (switchgear, UPS, generators)
  • Building automation systems (BAS/BMS)
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs

Operational Skills
  • Experience with CMMS/work order systems
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and compliance
  • Ability to manage emergency response scenarios

Business & Communication Skills
  • Budgeting, cost estimation, and resource planning experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
  • Experience in mixed-use campuses (office, lab, industrial)
  • Corporate HQ or high-profile client experience
  • Trade licenses or certifications (HVAC, Electrical, Stationary Engineer)
  • Experience in critical environments (data centers, manufacturing, labs)
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or reliability engineering exposure
  • Vendor and contract management experience
