Job description

Full Time POSITION in Chino, CA

SUMMARY
A growing chemical distribution company is seeking a Sales Manager to
work directly alongside ownership with the long-term goal of
eventually leading the sales organization. This is NOT a traditional
corporate sales-admin role — the client wants someone who leads from
the front, earns the respect of the sales reps, deeply understands
margins and profitability, and helps drive long-term business growth.
Current team: 5–7 senior sales reps (largely self-managing) and 12
junior sales reps requiring coaching, accountability, and day-to-day
management. This person will initially focus heavily on developing the
junior team and, long-term, may oversee the entire sales organization.
The role includes direct mentorship and training under ownership
during the first year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work directly with ownership to learn the business, customers, and
sales strategy
- Manage, coach, and develop junior sales representatives; drive
accountability and execution
- Monitor gross profit performance and maintain strong margin discipline
- Review pricing, profitability, and deal structure with a margin-first mindset
- Drive territory growth and customer retention; build trust with
senior and junior reps
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development of future sales talent
- Analyze sales performance, trends, and pipeline; assist with
strategic growth planning
- Work cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and leadership
- Eventually transition into broader leadership over the sales organization
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 5–10 years of experience within CHEMICAL DISTRIBUTION SALES (must-have)
- Previous sales leadership, team management, or mentorship experience
- Strong understanding of margin management and profitability (GP-focused)
- Proven ability to develop customer relationships and close business
- Strong analytical and numerical skills; experience
managing/supporting multiple reps
- Based in California (Chino / Southern California) — LOCALS ONLY
