Position: Chief Financial Officer

Position Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing Finance, Accounting and IT functions for the Counter Culture Coffee. The CFO, working in partnership with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Executive Chairman will be a key leader of the companyโ€™s next phase of growth. The CFO acts as a steward of the business, supporting the interests of company ownership. The CFO will be responsible for financial reporting, financial analysis, developing annual and long-range financial plans, driving profitability, as well as overseeing controllership activities including accounting, treasury, tax, and audit work. The role reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

1. Financial Restructuring & Strategy
  • Balance Sheet Optimization: Oversee debt structure, manage working capital, and drive critical financial ratios that appeal to institutional buyers.

  • Investor Strategy: Optimize capital mix and lead relationships with lenders and investors

  • P&L Management: Analyze margins across all three channels (Grocery, Wholesale, E-com) to identify opportunities for value creation.

  • Valuation Modeling: Build and maintain financial models that project profit growth and enterprise value.

2. Operational Excellence
  • Cashflow Oversight: Ensure Counter Culture is out ahead of fluctuations in cash needs to fund the operation and to expand capacity to facilitate growth.

  • Supply Chain Efficiency: Partner with Operations on green coffee procurement and inventory management to improve cash flow without compromising Company Purpose and steadfast commitment to coffee quality.

  • Business Model Strengthening: Evaluate the relationship between revenue sources and investment uses to ensure spending is aligned with ROI. Evaluate and implement cost savings strategies across the business, working to identify opportunities for automation.

  • Tech Stack Integration: Ensure our ERP system is integrated with other key softwares (like Shopify, Zoho CRM, etc), to provide "one version of the truth" and democratized data. Drive integration of latest AI technology to drive productivity.

3. M&A Support
  • Compliance: Oversee accounting to GAAP-compliant, audit-ready financials.

  • Strategic Positioning: Work with Chairman and CEO to manage current banking relationships and to identify potential lenders and investors as needed.

  • Data Room Preparation: Organize all financial records, contracts, and IP to ensure a seamless due diligence process as the company looks to bring in outside investors.

4. Leader and Builder
  • Senior Leadership Team: Be an active participant in Senior Leadership and Leadership Team meetings, prioritizing the health of the whole company. Enterprise mindset.

  • Business Basics: Direct and coordinate the organizationโ€™s financial and budget activities to produce accurate and timely financial statements according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Manage the companyโ€™s financial planning and analysis, forecasting, accounting, payroll, tax, and treasury activities.

  • Depth of Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of how Counter Culture Coffee generates profits, identifying the key drivers of costs.

  • Lean: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and a quest to always find a better way.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years experience as CFO

  • CPA level understanding of accounting, MBA preferred; Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • General understanding and familiarity with Tax compliance and optimization strategies.

  • Strong background in M&A

  • Intuitive and insightful with a keen sense for how to create shareholder value, including the emphasis on long term value vs. short term gains.

  • Demonstrated success in leading an accounting/finance organization involving budgeting, forecasting, financial planning & reporting, product margin analysis, and ROI analysis.

  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience at a manufacturing company; food production experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational ability.

  • ERP implementation experience preferred.

  • Ability to communicate vision, motivate workforce, develop effective teams, and build peer relationships.
