The Royal Caribbean Group's Travel Platforms Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time IT Product Owner reporting to the Senior Director, Product.
Position Summary:
This role is ideal for a builder-product hybrid who can:
  • Develop automation solutions using Python
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to refine requirements
  • Drive delivery in an Agile environment

The candidate will play a critical role in bridging business, product, and engineering, while independently building scalable solutions to improve operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Technical Development & Automation (Hands-on)
  • Design and develop automation workflows and tools using Python
  • Build data pipelines and transformations using:
    • Pandas
    • DuckDB
  • Develop lightweight APIs and services using FastAPI
  • Optimize data processing and performance for large datasets
  • Troubleshoot and debug technical issues across the stack

2. Product Ownership & Requirement Refinement
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements
  • Convert business needs into:
    • User stories
    • Functional/technical specifications
  • Drive clarity in ambiguous problem statements
  • Ensure requirements are implementation-ready for development

3. Agile Delivery & Execution
  • Act as an Individual Contributor within Agile PODs
  • Participate actively in:
    • Sprint planning
    • Backlog refinement
    • Daily stand-ups
    • Retrospectives
  • Prioritize work based on business value and technical feasibility
  • Take ownership of end-to-end delivery of solutions

4. Data & Platform Thinking
  • Work with structured/unstructured data to derive insights and automation opportunities
  • Design scalable solutions aligned with platform architecture
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance

5. Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Partner with:
    • Product teams
    • Engineering teams
    • Business stakeholders
  • Serve as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams
  • Communicate solutions clearly to leadership

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in:
    • Technical Product Management / Technical Lead roles
    • OR Software Engineering with strong product exposure
  • Proven experience working in Agile environments

Technical Skills (Mandatory)
  • Strong hands-on development experience in:
    • Python
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Pandas (data manipulation)
    • DuckDB (analytics/data querying)
  • Experience building APIs using:
    • FastAPI
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data processing pipelines
    • Performance optimization
    • Debugging and troubleshooting

Product & Agile Skills
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Product lifecycle
    • Agile methodologies
  • Ability to:
    • Write clear user stories
    • Drive backlog refinement
    • Prioritize effectively

Domain Knowledge (Preferred)
  • Experience in:
    • Travel industry
    • Cruise / booking / reservation systems
  • Understanding of:
    • End-to-end travel journeys (search, booking, payments)

Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to operate independently as an IC
  • High ownership and accountability
