Job description

Associate Director – Facultative Reinsurance Broking (Caribbean, Property)

This role will be based in our Miami office with the flexibility to work virtually occasionally

Aon is in the business of better decisions

Aon is a leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of Health, Wealth, and Career solutions. Our 50,000 colleagues in 120 countries empower results to advise clients using proprietary data and analytics to deliver insights that improve performance and governance.

At Aon, we build decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive team and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.

What the day will look like

As an Associate Director - Facultative Reinsurance Broking, you will work as part of Aon’s broking team to build, develop, and place structured reinsurance solutions for clients. This role will focus on alternative and structured reinsurance strategies, including loss portfolio transfers, adverse development covers, and other customized risk transfer solutions.

You will collaborate closely with broking, actuarial, analytics, contract wording, legal, and client-facing groups across solution lines. Together, you will assist clients in evaluating complex risks, reviewing market options, and creating practical solutions that support their financial, operational, and strategic goals. This is an opportunity to apply advanced reinsurance and reinsurance broking knowledge in a highly cooperative environment while helping clients tackle complex risk, capital, and portfolio challenges.

How This Opportunity Is Different

The role merges technical reinsurance skills, direct broking with clients, analytical work using data, and consultative services. You will guide clients in reviewing complicated risk transfer choices and formulating solutions that may boost capital efficiency, decrease volatility, support portfolio oversight, and strengthen long-term risk management. You will also partner with teams across Aon’s larger platform, providing a chance to grow market awareness, refine technical knowledge, and contribute to creative solutions for sophisticated clients.

How You Will Make an Impact

Success in this role will be shown by your ability to:

  • Provide organized reinsurance solutions that align with client priorities, market realities, and sound risk management principles.
  • Build positive relationships with clients, reinsurers, and internal partners.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and useful analysis, reports, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to business development strategies that expand client engagement and support revenue growth.
  • Strengthen market relationships and maintain current knowledge of structured market appetite and dynamics.
  • Collaborate effectively across broking, analytics, actuarial, legal, contract wording, and client teams.
  • Support high levels of client happiness through responsiveness, thoughtful problem-solving, and reliable execution.
  • Bring a committed, united, and passionate approach to serving clients and working with colleagues.
Skills and Experience That Will Lead to Success

We are looking for a colleague who brings:

  • Strong familiarity with reinsurance and reinsurance broking, along with experience formulating or placing structured reinsurance solutions.
  • Solid knowledge of property and casualty insurance lines, with the capability to apply accident-related insurance expertise where applicable to client exposures.
  • Experience identifying client needs and developing creative, efficient solutions.
  • Strong consulting abilities, including the capacity to guide clients, clarify complex concepts effectively, and assist with strategic decision-making.
  • Strong data analysis abilities, including the capacity to assess exposure, loss, pricing, market, and financial data.
  • Working knowledge of pricing analysis, exposure assessment, risk management, and structured deal economics.
  • Ability to review documentation, contract terms, coverage language, and client-ready materials with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with credit analysis concepts, including reinsurer counterparty strength, collateral considerations, and financial risk evaluation.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports, presentations, and recommendations for clients, markets, and internal collaborators.
  • Awareness of relevant regulatory, industry, and energy policy developments, where applicable to client risk profiles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with major clients, reinsurers, and internal partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Business development outlook, with the ability to find opportunities and contribute to growth strategies.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize various tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and willingness to use analytical tools such as R, Python, or similar applications where relevant.
  • Flexibility to travel as business needs require.
Required Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in broking and/or underwriting within commercial lines, concentrating on property and casualty insurance.
  • Proven experience in a technical or analytical role, such as actuarial, catastrophe modeling, capital modeling, structured reinsurance, financial analysis, or a related field.
  • Experience with structured reinsurance solutions, reinsurance markets, client analytics, or complex risk transfer strategies is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience with Caribbean or similar catastropheexposed property markets is strongly preferred.
Education and Certifications

A bachelor’s degree or comparable experience is preferred, especially in technical, analytical, business, risk, insurance, finance, actuarial, mathematics, statistics, or a related area.

Relevant credentials or progress toward credentials such as ACAS, FCAS, ASA, FSA, or similar professional designations are helpful but not required.

Aon offers a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and regular part-time colleagues, including, but not limited to: a 401(k) savings plan with employer contributions; an employee stock purchase plan; consideration for long-term incentive awards at Aon’s discretion; medical, dental and vision insurance, various types of leaves of absence, paid time off, including 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, 15 days of paid vacation per year, paid sick leave as provided under state and local paid sick leave laws, short-term disability and optional long-term disability, health savings account, health care and dependent care reimbursement accounts, employee and dependent life insurance and supplemental life and AD&D insurance; optional personal insurance policies, adoption assistance, tuition assistance, commuter benefits, and an employee assistance program that includes free counseling sessions.  Eligibility for benefits is governed by the applicable plan documents and policies.
