Job description

Job Summary:
The Inter-American Development Bank is a community dedicated to improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. They are seeking an AI Solutions Engineer to provide technical support for the adoption of emerging technologies and generative AI across the organization.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Provide expert technical support to users, helping them turn a need into a viable solution with emerging technologies and Generative AI.
โ€ข Recommend the most suitable tools and implementation approaches for each case.
โ€ข Design solution architectures aligned with the Bankโ€™s accredited and approved standards.
โ€ข Support the development and review of prototypes, applying good engineering and security practices.
โ€ข Define and maintain reusable standards, templates, and assets to accelerate new initiatives.
โ€ข Build and curate a knowledge base of use cases and best practices.
โ€ข Monitor the adoption, usage, and performance of the tools and initiatives you support.
โ€ข Produce periodic reporting on adoption, productivity, and impact to inform decision-making.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with the Bankโ€™s data governance and security rules.
โ€ข Collaborate with relevant teams and support the lead in advancing promising initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข masterโ€™s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
โ€ข At least 5 years of progressive experience in full stack development and the delivery of technology solutions, including at least 2 years working with Generative AI / LLM-based solutions.
โ€ข Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required.
โ€ข Programming: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#/.NET, Node.js
โ€ข Frontend development: React, Angular, Vue.js
โ€ข Backend & APIs: RESTful APIs and server-side frameworks (FastAPI, Express.js, .NET)
โ€ข Microsoft 365 & SharePoint: SharePoint Online, SPFx, Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps), M365 integration
โ€ข Software design: system architecture, scalable application design, and best practices
โ€ข Generative AI: LLM-based development and AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Gemini)
โ€ข MCP & agentic systems: Model Context Protocol, tool use, and function-calling integrations
โ€ข AI evaluation & observability: evals, tracing, prompt quality, guardrails, and reliability testing
โ€ข DevOps, FinOps & communication: CI/CD, Docker, IaC, cost tracking/monitoring, and stakeholder support
โ€ข You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
โ€ข You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Preferred:
โ€ข Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
โ€ข Cloud & data: Azure and AWS, plus SQL Server/PostgreSQL and MongoDB (plus)
