We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Raleigh, North Carolina office.
This role is responsible for developing and managing a strategic pipeline that drives revenue growth through business-to-business sales of Timmons Group services across the greater Raleigh region and eastern North Carolina, including Wilmington.
The Business Development Manager serves as a visible representative of the firm in the marketplace-building strong relationships, identifying new opportunities, and advancing strategic growth initiatives. This role leads client development efforts by evaluating prospective clients, developing and executing capture and pursuit strategies, and engaging regularly with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
Success in this role requires a proactive, relationship-driven approach, a strong regional presence, and the ability to collaborate effectively with firm leadership, marketing, and technical teams to position Timmons Group for long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Market Intelligence & Growth Strategy
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and competitive insights across the region
  • Support sector leaders with actionable market intelligence
  • Evaluate teaming partners and strategic alliances to strengthen positioning
  • Analyze competitors and contribute to differentiation strategies
  • Partner with Pursuits and Brand & Communications teams to enhance market presence and positioning
  • Contribute to firmwide growth initiatives and priority market strategies

Pipeline Development & Management
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with regional and firmwide growth priorities
  • Develop and execute pursuit and capture strategies for key opportunities
  • Qualify and prioritize leads and prospects to maintain a healthy, balanced pipeline
  • Align pursuits with client needs and firm capabilities
  • Support go/no-go decision processes for strategic pursuits
  • Define win strategies, including positioning, differentiation, and value messaging
  • Coordinate with technical teams, project managers, and marketing to advance pursuits
  • Maintain and manage CRM data (Vantagepoint preferred)
  • Track pipeline performance and provide regular forecasts against activity and revenue goals
  • Contribute to achieving regional revenue and growth targets
  • Collaborate with an established Business Development team

Client Development
  • Build and maintain long-term, strategic client relationships
  • Develop and execute client outreach and engagement strategies
  • Conduct regular in-person meetings with clients and prospects
  • Engage effectively with decision-makers and influencers
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to drive client experience and repeat business
  • Identify opportunities to expand services across existing client relationships
  • Support the development and execution of account plans for key clients
  • Represent and uphold Timmons Group values and reputation
  • Regular regional travel required (typically Tuesday-Thursday) to support client engagement

Brand Presence & Industry Engagement
  • Represent the firm at industry and community events and maintain a visible presence in the marketplace
  • Build and strengthen relationships within key markets and professional networks
  • Lead and actively participate in conferences and client appreciation events to drive market visibility
  • Enhance Timmons Group's brand visibility and reputation across the region

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of business development experience; AEC industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a pipeline that supports revenue growth
  • Experience developing capture strategies and advancing pursuits
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Ability to articulate the value of professional services to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience supporting proposals, presentations, and marketing materials
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Vantagepoint preferred)
