As our UK Property Tax practice continues to grow through new client acquisitions and an expanding portfolio, we are looking for a Rates Payment Specialist to join our high-performing team. This position can be based at either our Manchester (M50 2HF) or London (SE1 2AU) office locations.
This role goes beyond processing payments. You will play a critical role in helping clients reduce BusinessRatesliabilities,identifysavings opportunities, and deliver measurable value across complex property portfolios.
Working alongside surveyors, analysts, finance professionals, and local authorities, you will support the management of Business Rates payments for some of the UK's largest property investors, developers, occupiers, and corporate clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Business Rates, Revenues, Property Tax, Finance Administration, or Payments whoislooking to develop their career within a market-leading Property Tax practice.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and process Business Rates payments on behalf of a diverse client portfolio.
  • Reviewratesbills, notices, and assessments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Identifybilling errors, overcharges, exemptions, reliefs, and savings opportunities.
  • Proactively reduce client liabilities through detailed analysis and investigation.
  • Schedule and process payments in line with client requirements and statutory deadlines.
  • Reconcile payment accounts andmaintainaccurate, audit-ready records.
  • Liaise with local authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders to resolve payment queries and discrepancies.
  • Support the preparation of client reports and payment summaries.
  • Maintain documentationin accordance withGDPR and company policies.
  • Collaborate with surveyors and analysts to support appeals, relief applications, and mitigation strategies.
  • Take ownership of your workload and contribute to revenue generation through the identification and delivery of client savings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across payment processes, systems, and controls.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in Business Rates, Property Tax, Revenues, Payments, Finance Administration, ora related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communicationand stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel and other financial systems.
  • A proactive approach with accountability for outcomes and client service delivery.

Preferred but not essential experience:

  • Experience within a Local Authority Revenues Team.
  • Knowledge of UK Business Rates (NNDR) legislation and billing processes.
  • Experience working within a Property Tax consultancy, surveying practice, or corporate rates environment.
  • Understanding of rating assessments, reliefs, exemptions, and localauthoritybilling processes.
  • Experience managing large property portfolios or paymentprogrammes.
