Job description

Overview

This role is responsible for managing the bid process, partnering with pricing teams, and performing analysis on both incumbent and new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working cross-functionally and handling data to support strategic pricing decisions and drive customer retention and growth with the support of the pricing supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the full lifecycle of customer bids and RFP/RFQ responses, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Initiate collaboration for internal pricing, sales, and operations teams to develop competitive pricing solutions for both new and existing customers.
  • Analyze incumbent business performance, identify profitability trends using internal and external tools; oversee solutions and suggest bid direction based on collaborative pricing from all divisions.
  • Prepare evaluation for new business opportunities through cost modeling, competitor benchmarking, and margin analysis to key players.
  • Prepare customer-specific pricing strategies with data-driven insights and historical performance reviews for pricing leadership to review.
  • Use pricing databases, bid templates, and documentation for ease of access and accuracy.
  • Assist supervisory personnel with tracking and reporting bid outcomes, and pricing performance.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Account Executives and internal divisions to ensure pricing is provided based on freight characteristics, customer needs, market imbalances, and expected operating ratios.
  • Complete additional rate-related projects, analysis, and other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • One to two years of transportation rate experience preferred.
  • One to two years of PC computer experience preferred, with an Excel emphasis preferred.
  • Zero to six months customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal and/or personal computer.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge of DOT and ICC requirements, usually gained through practical experience, preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to perform and organize several projects at one time.
