Job description

Cordova is seeking a versatile, cross-functional Business Analyst to join a high-performing Agile development team. This role is the vital link between high-level business strategy and technical execution. You will spend your days collaborating with Product Owners, SMEs, and business units to capture, refine, and translate complex needs into actionable user stories.

This is an ideal role for an analyst who enjoys "owning" the requirements lifecycle—from identifying process improvements to collaborating with QA on detailed test cases. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who can navigate moderately complex issues with independent judgment and a high degree of accuracy.

Disclaimer: Bachelor's Degree Required

Key Responsibilities

Requirement Engineering & Agile Delivery

  • User Story Development: Capture and break down business requirements into detailed User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and technical specifications.

  • Agile Collaboration: Serve as an active participant on an Agile team (Scrum/Kanban), facilitating communication between stakeholders and developers.

  • Artifact Management: Create and maintain essential business and product artifacts, ensuring a clear "source of truth" for the project.

  • Continuous Improvement: Analyze existing business flows to define and implement improvements to products and internal processes.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Test Case Collaboration: Work alongside QA teams to identify and write detailed requirements for test cases based on defined business logic.

  • Verification: Apply knowledge of technology testing methods to ensure delivered software meets the "Definition of Done."

Decision Support & Stakeholder Management

  • Information Gathering: Assist decision-makers by researching alternatives and gathering the data necessary to make informed strategic choices.

  • Communication: Act as a tactical liaison between internal teams and external vendors, using high levels of tact to resolve issues and obtain cooperation.

  • Confidentiality: Manage and organize sensitive company data with the highest level of integrity and accuracy.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience & Education

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

  • Tenure: 2–3 years of related experience in business analysis, project management, or business process optimization.

  • Agile Knowledge: Practical experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and application lifecycle tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally).

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data manipulation software (Excel) and a basic understanding of SQL.

Domain Expertise (Preferred)

  • Insurance Knowledge: Familiarity with Property & Casualty (P&C) rating, policy coverages, and endorsements is a significant plus.

  • Modern Delivery: Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to research alternatives, reach sound decisions, and make persuasive recommendations.

  • Facilitation: Strong team facilitation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Organization: Proven ability to handle multiple high-priority tasks and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
