Help Producers Grow Their Operations - And Build a Career That Grows Too

At Security National Bank, we believe something simple but powerful: everything matters, because people matter. Every conversation, every decision, and every relationship is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

If you're passionate about agriculture, building relationships, and helping producers achieve their goals, you'll find purpose—and opportunity—here.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY: AG LENDER TRAINEE

Agriculture is the foundation of many of the communities we serve, and our Ag Lending team plays an important role in helping producers, families, and ag businesses succeed.

As an Ag Lender Trainee, you'll learn the agricultural lending business from experienced lenders who are committed to your development. You'll gain hands-on experience in customer relationships, financial analysis, credit underwriting, and business development while building the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in agricultural lending.

Whether your background is in agriculture, finance, business, banking, or a related field, this position provides the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop into a trusted advisor for agricultural customers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Learn the Business

  • Develop a strong understanding of agricultural lending, credit analysis, and financial services
  • Work alongside experienced lenders to learn the lending process from application through approval and servicing
  • Gain exposure to farm operations, agricultural production practices, and customer financial management
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Build Relationships

  • Assist with developing and maintaining strong relationships with agricultural customers and prospects
  • Participate in customer meetings, farm visits, and community events alongside experienced lenders
  • Learn how to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services
  • Deliver exceptional service while building trust and long-term customer relationships

Analyze & Support Lending Decisions

  • Assist in gathering and analyzing financial information, loan requests, and supporting documentation
  • Learn how to evaluate creditworthiness, repayment capacity, and collateral
  • Support loan portfolio management through ongoing customer communication and account monitoring
  • Develop skills in financial analysis, underwriting, and risk assessment

Grow with the Community

  • Represent the bank professionally within the agricultural community
  • Participate in farm and agricultural organizations, events, and networking opportunities
  • Build connections that support future business development and community engagement
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Security National Bank's agricultural banking services

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT

You'll thrive in this role if you are eager to learn, enjoy building relationships, and have a genuine interest in agriculture and helping others succeed.

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, ag business, finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred
  • Agricultural background, farming experience, internship experience, or exposure to the ag industry is helpful but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with a variety of customers
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new concepts and financial analysis skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to personal growth
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
  • Service-oriented, respectful, and committed to doing what's right for customers

WHY SECURITY NATIONAL BANK?

Because here, your work has purpose.

You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced lenders, build meaningful relationships throughout the agricultural community, and help local producers achieve their goals.

This isn't just a training position—it's the beginning of a long-term career path with opportunities for growth, development, and impact.

If you're ready to build your future while helping agriculture thrive, we'd love to connect.

ABOUT SECURITY NATIONAL BANK:

Security National Bank was chartered in 1884 in Sioux City, Iowa; founded on the time-tested principles of integrity, honor, open-mindedness, efficiency, good humor, respect, duty, and human connection.  These principles served as guideposts that enabled SNB to withstand the economic panic of the late 1800s, the Great Depression, two World Wars, and the farm crisis — and emerge as the region’s most established and trustworthy locally owned bank.  We believe what was worth doing well yesterday is still worth doing well today. People change and banking changes, but our time-tested principles remain.  To this day, we believe that doing what’s right is the only way to take care of customers, empower businesses, cultivate growth, inspire our community, and accomplish the remarkable.

Security National Bank is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer.  Applicants are considered for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, marital status, or veteran status.
