Job description

Business Development Manager

Greater Los Angeles | Hybrid

Build the Sales Function. Create the Playbook. Drive the Growth.

A growing boutique professional services firm serving the construction and real estate industries is hiring a Business Development Manager to help lead its next phase of growth.

The company has built a strong reputation within its niche and has been growing at a consistent rate of 10% YOY, with plans for continued expansion in 2027. Their clients include lenders, public entities, and developers supporting projects across the West Coast and throughout the U.S.

Working directly alongside company ownership, you'll partner on business development efforts while building the processes, CRM infrastructure, and scalable sales framework needed to support future growth. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to help shape the sales organization and build a team.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, creating structure, and having a meaningful impact on a growing business.

The company is based in Pasadena and offers a hybrid work environment.

Industry experience in lending, mortgage, or real estate finance is not required. What matters is your ability to build relationships, create scalable processes, and help grow a business.

Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Build and implement the companyโ€™s sales framework, playbook, and operating processes.
  • Develop scalable prospecting, qualification, follow-up, and pipeline management workflows.
  • Create CRM standards, reporting dashboards, and sales performance metrics.
  • Partner with ownership to refine go-to-market strategy, target markets, and growth initiatives.
  • Personally generate and close new business opportunities while establishing repeatable systems.
  • Build relationships with lenders, developers, contractors, builders, and other strategic partners.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Develop key performance indicators that will support future sales team growth.
  • Help define future sales roles, hiring priorities, and organizational structure.

Business Development Manager Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of successful B2B sales, business development, or commercial strategy experience.
  • Experience building or improving sales processes, CRM systems, or go-to-market strategies.
  • Proven success selling professional, consultative, or complex services.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, and closing skills.
  • Comfortable operating independently while partnering closely with executive leadership.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building something from the ground up.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and accountable.
  • Excited by creating a sales functionโ€”not simply joining an existing one.
  • Experience in professional services, financial services, insurance, consulting, construction services, commercial real estate, technology-enabled services, or another relationship-driven industry is highly valued.
