Job Description

The Business Banking Officer is responsible for driving business and treasury growth by building relationships with both new and existing clients for D.L. Evans Bank. He or she entails developing and executing a marketing strategy focused on attracting and securing new clients. The Business Banking Officer actively promotes the bank’s range of treasury services—including business accounts and merchant services—to both prospective and current customers. He or she works closely with branch staff and ensures that solutions are customized to meet each client’s unique needs. The Business Banking Officer develops a deep understanding of client objectives and assesses their treasury strategies to ensure they align with those goals. He or she will have frequent local travel within the designated market area as required. The Business Banking Officer also represents D.L. Evans Bank at community events, industry seminars, and trade conventions as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in marketing or business preferred
  • Intermediate experience in treasury management, sales and implementation
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of banking practices, principles, operations, policies, and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with coworkers
  • Proficient in using the Internet, email, and Microsoft Office applications


Responsibilities

  • Proactively engages in individual and joint business development activities, with a primary focus on expanding the bank’s treasury management client base
  • Establishes new business relationships by identifying and targeting prospective clients for treasury management and merchant services
  • Collaborates closely with loan officers, personal bankers, and branch managers to cross-sell treasury management solutions and broaden the bank’s reach
  • Meets with clients and prospects to assess their treasury and cash management needs, recommending tailored solutions based on a comprehensive understanding of bank products and services
  • Prepares and presents customized proposals that address client-specific financial structures and objectives
  • Accurately documents all client interactions and sales activities in the 360 View software to monitor progress and ensure follow-up
  • Develops and executes a strategic marketing plan to drive fee income and deposit growth through the proactive promotion of treasury management services
  • Responsible for meeting and achieving sales, referral, and profitability targets related to treasury management and related services
  • Conducts ongoing market research to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge in treasury management offerings
  • Develops internal and external referral sources through participation in bank events, community activities, and participation in seminars and professional groups (CPAs, attorneys)
  • Provides product training, onboarding support, and ongoing service to new treasury management clients, ensuring seamless implementation experience
  • Monitors and manages risk associated with treasury management clients, including regulatory, operational, reputational, and credit risks
  • Ensures all treasury management and merchant service offerings are compliant with applicable state and federal regulations
  • Periodically reviews product offerings and client satisfaction, benchmarking competitors and recommending enhancements to maintain market leadership
  • Acts as a resource and backup for business banking officers in other markets, supporting treasury management initiatives bankwide
  • Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with clients, understanding their business strategies and aligning treasury solutions to support their goals
  • Maintains high levels of client retention through effective communication, prompt resolution of concerns, and delivery of exceptional service
  • Represents the bank in the community, always upholding and promoting the professional reputation of D.L. Evans Bank
  • Operates computer terminal or personal computer to determine balances, process account activity and resolve problems
