Job description

Job Summary

The purpose of this Sr. Business Analyst position is to facilitate the analysis, design, and implementation of eApplication (Electronics Order Entry) platform solutions. These solutions will support internal and external requirements in the most effective and efficient manner to meet the needs of the F&G business units as well as external customers. As part of the Order Entry Team, this role will work closely with IT staff & multiple business units (Operations, Sales & Marketing, Product Development, Claims, Legal/Compliance) to identify and document optimal solutions for critical business needs and opportunities, and to facilitate business interaction with F&G IT and external vendors in identifying and implementing those solutions. This position will also include the coordination of testing efforts with outside vendors and distributors, so professional communication skills are a must.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert for Electronic Order Entry (eApplication) and data feed areas.
  • Mentor and train less seasoned team members to develop expertise.
  • Develop and maintain eApplication product offerings.
  • Act as a primary interface with the business for Firelight and other eApplication tools in providing support, communication, and training.
  • Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options and communicate this back to the business stakeholders in the form of a requirements document.
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to the eApplication Business Analyst.
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Follow the company development methodology (SDLC) and project lifecycle to manage the requirements documentation & coordination with other departmental units.
  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Plan, design & recommend business process improvement and support business activities.
  • Work with business functions to identify opportunities for enhanced experience.
  • Be forward thinking and identify gaps of requests customers want today and how that may impact future decisions.
  • Evaluate critical system defects by determining and communicating priorities based on impacts to business and work toward solutions to resolving them.
  • Provide eApplication systems expertise to system users, business partners and other internal/external customers including troubleshooting issues, as well as, identifying and correcting inefficiencies.
  • May be physically located with the business unit or work full time remote with periodic visits to the F&G Home Office in Des Moines, IA.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have formal people leadership responsibilities but may provide guidance, mentorship, or subject matter expertise to others.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 5-10 years' experience in the financial services industry
  • 5+ years of Business Analysis experience with demonstrated progression in responsibilities
  • 3-5 years' experience enhancing, maintaining, and troubleshooting one or more electronic order entry platforms
  • Insurance industry experience & knowledge of Annuity/Life products strongly preferred
  • ACORD Certified Expert (ACE) highly desired
  • LOMA designations such as FLMI are highly desired
