Job description

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager/Business Systems Analyst to lead a Long-term Contract engagement based in West Des Moines, Iowa. In this hybrid role, you will guide delivery across a complex business intelligence initiative while also translating stakeholder needs into detailed, actionable specifications for technical teams. The position blends project leadership, Agile coordination, and hands-on business analysis to support high-quality reporting and analytics solutions in a multi-phase enterprise environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead planning and execution for a large-scale BI initiative, overseeing timelines, scope, budget considerations, interdependencies, and project risks from initiation through delivery.
• Direct Agile delivery activities in Jira by organizing the backlog, preparing sprint plans, monitoring team progress, and communicating performance trends and milestones to leadership.
• Facilitate core Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning sessions, daily stand-ups, backlog reviews, sprint demonstrations, and retrospective discussions.
• Partner with developers, data teams, platform support staff, quality assurance resources, and business stakeholders to keep work aligned across multiple parallel efforts.
• Monitor issues, constraints, and delivery obstacles, escalating concerns when needed and driving mitigation plans through resolution.
• Define and manage the sequencing strategy for report evaluation, retirement, redesign, or rebuild as part of the broader modernization roadmap.
• Gather, analyze, and confirm business needs with report owners and stakeholders, then convert those needs into precise functional documentation for technical implementation.
• Create detailed specifications covering data mappings, business rules, calculations, access requirements, and reporting layouts so development teams can build with clarity.
• Develop wireframes or visual mockups for reports and dashboards, using them to validate expectations with stakeholders before development begins.
• Support testing and governance activities by preparing validation scenarios, coordinating user approval, resolving requirement-related defects, and documenting report ownership and lineage.• At least 5 years of combined experience in project management and business systems analysis, including responsibility for both delivery oversight and requirements definition.
• Strong working knowledge of Agile Scrum practices and proven experience managing sprint-based work within Atlassian Jira.
• Demonstrated ability to produce complete, developer-ready business and functional requirements with minimal need for clarification during execution.
• Experience creating report or dashboard mockups and wireframes using tools such as Figma, Visio, PowerPoint, Balsamiq, or similar applications.
• Background supporting business intelligence, analytics, or data warehousing initiatives; experience with BI modernization or migration work is preferred.
• Effective stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and communication skills across both technical teams and business audiences.
• Solid written and verbal communication abilities, including preparation of status updates, requirements documentation, and acceptance criteria.
• PMP certification or comparable project management discipline is a plus, along with the ability to operate successfully in complex, evolving environments.
