Job description

Burner Operator
Automation Personnel Services is seeking hard-working and dependable Burner Operators for a manufacturing company in New Orleans, LA. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently producing quality products by setting up, programming, and operating burner equipment and CNC machinery.

Monday through Friday
  • 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
Burner Operator Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review work orders and production paperwork to determine cutting requirements.
  • Plan material placement on cutting tables and group orders by material thickness.
  • Prioritize work based on supervisor instructions, customer requests, and production schedules.
  • Locate and stage materials from inventory, storage racks, and staging areas.
  • Select and operate appropriate material-handling equipment, including chains, plate hooks, magnets, spreader bars, and lifting devices.
  • Set up dunnage and prepare materials for processing.
  • Select proper burner torch tips based on material type and desired cut quality.
  • Program CNC equipment according to work order specifications.
  • Remove slag and scrap from finished parts during and after cutting operations.
  • Stack finished parts on skids or transport them to cleaning equipment as required.
  • Clean and inspect finished products before packaging.
  • Package materials according to customer requirements, including banding, labeling, shrink-wrapping, and staging for shipment.
Burner Operator Qualifications & Requirements
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written work orders and production instructions.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous experience with CNC equipment, plasma cutting, burner operation, or metal fabrication is preferred.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required.
