Job description

Burner / Torch Operator (mobile - traveling)
ShearWorx has an immediate opening for an experienced Burner / Torch Operator. The Burner / Torch Operator is responsible for cutting ferrous material with a torch. The Employee will be preparing (cutting up) scrap metal at off-site locations to a size acceptable to the steel mill of the customer's choice. The primary material to be prepared will be steel rail cars but will also include aluminum rail cars and miscellaneous "yard-scrap." This position requires a heavy amount of travel.

Duties amp; Responsibilities:
  • Cuts oversized ferrous materials to commodity specifications
  • Safely and efficiently operates Cutting Torch
  • Maintains torch equipment to ensure maximum performance
  • Clean and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards
  • General duties involving physical handling of materials, supplies, Etc
  • Must wear all proper PPE while working in designate locations
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Follow company safety standards at all times
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player dedicated to the company
  • Knowledge of scrap a plus
  • Travel Required (75%+)
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1+ years of Torch
  • Process-driven and detail-oriented
  • Have a valid Driver's License
  • Knowledge of safety standards and adherence to current regulations
  • General knowledge of scrap metal manufacturing
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 50 lbs.
